CRICKET Queensland Bulls 25/26

Big day for Hugh, at the Gabba, Qld lead by 81 and he's on 33. He's done the hard slog and faced lots of balls. Batting with Jimmy will be good for him.

Time for 100.

We have lost 2-2 this morning. That Hearne dismissal late yesterday was a real turning point. Now relying on the bowlers to score some valuable runs like they did in the second innings against the Vics last game

Make that 3.

Absolute stupidity from Hearne. This game will be over today.

Surely Botha gets the sack soon. So underwhelming.

Not defending the coach as they are accountable for performances, however are the massive batting collpases today and in the match v NSW at the SCG the fault of the coach?

I get it...none of us want perfomances like this. Is it the players, the coaches, mindset, technique issues?

From a batting perspective, we are missing Clayton and Renshaw. Those tewo would help but all teams get injuries.

There are a host of bowlers missing - Barltett the obvious one that would be playing at full strength.

Not a Botha fan but I don't know if he is an issue at all in this one. more than 50% of the side has played less than 20 shield games. They're still very raw. Certainly some disappointing shots played.

They made the Shield final last year and will finish second this year and make the final again.

They're third in the One Day comp so could be another final there.

Botha has a three-year deal, pretty hard to sack someone after two finals in two years of a three-year deal.

Seccombe won two Shield finals and a BBL and got sacked so maybe I am assuming too much.

Yeah the Seccombe one was weird. The thing that worries me about Botha, and look it could simply be a perspective thing, is that it feels like the team is going backwards.

He also might be a victim of the dearth of talent Australia wide, particularly in the batting department, I don't know but it is just very disappointing to see such a brittle performance and not for the first time recently.

Yeah I think these are fair points to be fair. Renshaw and Clayton are two huge losses but its just a shame none of the next level down guys have taken their chances in terms of batting.

Are they going backwards or in a partial rebuilding phase? They have blooded a lot of young players in the last two seasons as they prepare for life beyond some of the older fellas.

As pointed out earier they did make the Shield final last year and sitting 2nd again this year. I think consistency is the key -we play awesme cricket but then have sessions where we are absolutely terrible.

With so many inexperienced players who will inevitably have some tough days so early in their careers, we really need our big guns to stand up. It didnt happen in this game.
