Queensland Cup 2013

The clubs decide it, they get to say which areas they're lacking and are allocated Broncos' players.

They got screwed over with Stagg so getting Kemp still hasn't squared it up and I don't think they're that strong in the outside backs.

Well Redcliffe already had Bond, Berryman, Whitchurch, Georgetown as backs on the Broncos books. Why don't they share around the talent a bit more?? Obviously Recfliffe Juniors should go to Redcliffe IMO.

They're are all their players provided to the Broncos. Why should they miss out on players because they produce their own?

They shouldn't miss out on them. Just saying I don't think their squad need Kemp.

Will be interesting to see how Redcliffe go this weekend against Ipswich with Kemp named at fullback and Joe Bond at 6.

QLD RUGBY LEAGUE BACKS PNGRLF

The Queensland Rugby League will back PNG to request for an expansion of the 2014 Intrust Super Cup and to include PNG in the competition.
This was discussed over the weekend during a meeting with the PNG Rugby League Foundation.

The weekend’s visit by the Queensland Rugby League representatives was to witness how Rugby League is played in the country.
This helped them to make recommendations to the Australian Rugby League Commission and the boards to consider including a team from PNG in the Intrust Super Cup come 2014.

After spectating weekend’s Digicel Cup Competition challenge between Enga Mioks and the Gulf Isapeas, they’ve seen talent and experienced the passion Papua New Guineans have for Rugby League.

General Manager of the Australian Competitions Jamie O’Connor says Queensland Rugby league will make sure PNG is considered.

PNG Rugby League Foundation Chief Executive Officer Brad Tassell said it has been an ongoing process about inclusion into the 2014 competition.

The Australian Rugby League Commission is currently undergoing a national review of Rugby league in Australia including New South Wales and Queensland Competitions.

Completion of the review is expected by the end of this month and recommendations will be discussed throughout June.

Story/Rumour the Broncos are interested in having their own Qld Cup team next year in the QRL once again.

I wouldn't mind that but I guess the other QLD cup sides wouldn't be keen.

I'm assuming that would be moving this current broncos team out of the NRL and into the Q cup??? Would be good to see us winning some games again, SOME.

It has pros and cons from both perspectives.

Big one for the Broncos is cost, it cost million plus to put a Qld Cup team on the field.
Clubs can be very successful minus a link with NRL teams (Jets and Souths this year).
Clubs lose players and that causes angst, when your player leaves you to just play for the Broncos' feeder club. Although clubs only will release players if it is for an NRL top 25 contract.
It would open the Broncos up to losing out on talent with no eyes at different clubs it would make it easier for other NRL clubs to form agreements.
Can make it harder to attract players to your club with no 'pathway to the Broncos' agreement.

Can it get any harder to attract players to the Broncos?? I doubt it at the moment. I'm not fussed either way.

No because those who don't get picked in the 17 each week play QCup anyway?

Wynnum 34 def. Norths 14

Yow Yeh, Baptiste, Gibb and Lui represented Norths.

Granville represented the Seagulls.

Neither J. Wallace or Dodds who are affiliated with both clubs played, all but confirming their spot for tomorrow.

Did Yowie play wing or centre?

If Yow Yeh is playing Q cup maybe he could get back this year?/ I am pretty surprised with how quickly he has returned to footy. Yow Yeh on one leg would have to better than Maranta
