Just some observations from today's game broncos/norths-wise. Missed about 20 mins but from what I saw:

Piakura looks likely in attack and defence, but he seems a bit lazy. His running reminds me a little of tallis and his defence stops them in their tracks, but he never chases kicks, runs decoys or goes into just wrap the ball up.

I like jacob gagan. Reminds me of opacic except an upper body tackler more than a legs tackler. Still very sound on both sides of the ball.

We could do worse than Roberts as a 4th/5th man up half despite his age.

Reynolds coaching has obviously improved gamble (I mean that seriously), but he still doesn't give me any release regret given he's likely not good for team dynamics (given the way he was dropped, not reinstated, and no fight for his re-signing, just like the tigers didnt).

Ahearn looks extremely solid every time I watch him. Seems to talk a lot in defence and great positioning with safe as houses catches.

The winger seems explosive (name?) but not exactly footy smart so pass on that one.

The 9s are good but don't excite me too much, maybe I just wasn't watching them enough (?)

1 1910 how much credit do you think should go to Smith for this premiership?

He’s made a gf over there too. He must be earmarked for a NRL gig sooner than later

He left early in the season but his assistants took over and kept it running which isn't always easy to do.

Norths have overcome a bit this year and to go back to back is huge.

Sorry, I guess what I was asking is how much did he contribute as far as setting them up to in this position? Obviously the guys in charge now deserve the most credit but does Smith deserve credit for laying a good structural foundation?

How do you rate him as a coach?

I guess what I’m basically asking is, how do you think Smith would go as an NRL coach?

Norths are more steady than Dolphins, they will sand paper the win down while Dolphins will explode.

Dolphins were held up how many times? Norths just plodded along and took their chances- just well drilled.

Norths v Penrith or Dogs now.

100% he deserves credit he was outstanding Norths were bottomed out when he took over in 2018- he ended up with a premiership in total 72 games, 48 wins at 66%.

2020 to round five this year- when he raised that to 88% and won the comp and he peaked them.

I have been saying since 2018 he is a great coach. I can't sing his praises enough. If I was an NRL CEO I would have not let him leave Norths for anywhere but my club.

He debuted 22 players in 2018, he changed the club to what he wanted and how he wanted it. Great development coach.

Tumusa?

I remember suggesting McGradey as a blue chip prospect. I like my wingers who are bigger bodies and can score tries. Then I realised just how much he ballooned and thought better of it. Still, he's been a decent replacement for Nene and I wouldn't be against offering him a train and trial. The guy wanted to make sure he scored the match-winner he dislocated his elbow getting it down - let's go.

Then again I'm right with Chewed Chewed and want Israel Leota right in the mix. Xavier Atoa has seemingly disappeared but I like what I saw of him in 2021.

McGrady's are so talented, seems to be a 100 of them. His elbow was dislocated slamming that ball down.

Panthers haven't done anything super great, just taken three chances when they get down there. Dogs need to just wait and work on building chances up.
