Pauli certainly doesn't help matters, but I'd contend the Mullen's discretion was a blessing in disguise.

As @Unbreakable pointed out, Brown was already looking at ways to move Mullen out of the club. Now that he's been presented with the opportunity, he can focus on the Lamb/Hodkinson pairing without any unnecessary distractions.

I find them a tough team to predict. At this stage, it'd be easy to see them to write them off as a glorified bye, but they should do better than 2016. It's just a matter of trying to pick which teams they'll beat.

Your right about Mullen being a blessing in disguise in the long run to help give them a war chest for 2018 but I'm just not convinced they will make much of an improvement in 2017 if at all, still stranger things have happened. What are their options at hooker now if Mullen is out of the picture and Kostjasyn is out for the season?
