Award-winning sports journalist and columnist Rebecca Wilson has died aged 54.

Ms Wilson passed away at her Sydney home this morning after a long and private battle with breast cancer.

She was a commentator and columnist for News Corp and a Sky News contributor.

Ms Wilson is survived by her husband.

She may not have been a great journalist but that is way too young to go. :(

She also has two sons.

Very sad...another person taken too soon by this prick of a disease.

RIP.

I don't have anything nice to say about Rebecca Wilson.

I feel for her family, it's a horrible disease that takes too many people.

Condolences to her friends and family.

Unfortunately for Rebecca, she will not be remembered well. She was a gutter journalist who resorted to tabloid level sensationalism to vilify athletes and fans despite herself being a convicted drink driver.

I feel for her family its tough losing someone especially to cancer, but I won't be missing her gutter tabloid crap.

That's sad to see someone die young. Horrible for her family and 2 sons. Didn't like her articles though, it was low gutter journalism.

Gutter journalist but didn't deserve what she got. Feel for the family. She was a swans fan who hated Paul Gallen with a passion. What a shithouse final week she must have had.

Condolences to her family & friends.

Sad to hear this news.

Yes she was a gutter journalist, but they all are.

I pretty much second both these posts.

Regardless, no one deserves to be taken by this terrible disease, much less this young, and their family, especially husband and children must be devastated.
Unfortunately for them, the way she went about her work will probably only cause more pain to her family and friends, as a lot of people won't spare her after her passing, and I can only imagine the comments they will be subjected to...

She admitted to being drunk etc.

At least she didn't come up with some SOB story about why she was drunk.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Yes, it seems the majority of journalists constantly toe the line when it comes to ethics, but that doesn't make it ok. She went on personal vendettas against players and even whole supporter groups just to sell a bullshit agenda and flog newspapers. She was in no position to take a moral high ground.
