For someone who wanted to play for the Broncos so much, he couldn't wait another month or two for that opportunity? It seems pretty clear Kevvie was going to play him this season.
He sounds like a bit of a dick to me
Origin is going to wreck Walsh, he's just a boy amongst gladiators. There's no where to hide with his weak defence, he'll be targeted. This will scar him for life.

Gould has labelled the selection of Walsh as disgraceful and has really gone in on his view that it has neglected player welfare. He also mentioned that even if he plays well it doesn’t change the fact it is disgraceful decision to put him under that pressure.
I really shake my head at the hypocrisy of Gus in this. The guy who instigated throwing half a million dollars to a kid who had played 1 game against adults - who moved him to first grade the first chance they got, shuffled their captain for him, and gave him the most on field responsibility. Dragging him away from his previous club by taking advantage of them wanting to develop him properly rather than throw him to the wolves. Now Gus is white knighting that it’s QLD doing it to the disadvantage of the Warriors.
How dare QLD take the same risk on Walsh that Gus and the warriors did 4 months earlier.

By all reports it was the promise of an immediate debut that convinced Walsh to go, no the extra dollars. What a stupid reply, you let a possibly generational spine player walk out the door over $200K when we have the weakest spine in the competition and then you go on to pay second rowers with the same amount of experience (that is nil) what you could have paid to keep a fullback/5/8th (the position we really need to fill).
If he is such a shit judge of talent don't you think that counts against his bona fides as a first grade coach.

All KW wanted to do was develop him properly, and even told the kid the plan - how dare he!
There was that one player in the 90’s who said he left because he “wanted to **** all the good looking shielas” in the GoldcoastVery few players ever say they left for money even though that is why they left.

Nice rant, but try working with reality.Either way you spin this, it’s another monumental **** up from the club
It’s as clear as day that we need to upgrade our SPINE,
We’ve had him in our system for years, we’ve seen him train, we’ve watched him grow, he actually wanted to stay, yet we didn’t have the foresight to extended him last year?
Who cares if we genuinely thought he wasn’t ready for the NRL, promise him a spot at fullback and then drop him after he signs, worst case scenario he’s a little peed off for a few weeks,
It’s evident after a handful of NRL games that the kid (Who according to the Broncs brain trust wasn’t ready for the NRL) has superstar written all over him, ALL the idiots who decided that Isakoo was our future and not this kid should be sacked. Decent fullbacks are $700k plus, an upgrade last year probably wouldn’t have cost us anywhere near that,
So you’re saying we handle this right then?Nice rant, but try working with reality.
"ALL the idiots who decided that Isakoo was our future and not this kid should be sacked" - Nobody decided that, nobody! Isaako was keeping the seat warm for Walsh, while Walsh was properly developed according to an actual plan, in an attempt to not destroy him. Anybody who thinks that's a bad plan needs their head examined.
Yeah, in all likelihoodSo you’re saying we handle this right then?
All good mate, respect your viewsYeah, in all likelihood
There's 2 things to remember;
1 - we don't know the inner machinations and so we can only make judgements based on partial information
2 - we are now looking at it from hindsight
So, viewed from the perspective at the time, the coach telling a young player to bide his time for a few more weeks (at most the season but unlikely) to learn his craft and improve the chances of him succeeding, you think was a mistake? I certainly don't.
Sure you can look at it NOW and say yeah we got it wrong because obviously the kid was ready, but who's to say he would have had that success at the Broncos? Sadly we are far worse than even the Warriors.
Did the Broncos handle Walsh right? Yeah they did. It's a shame he chose to walk away but that doesn't mean we got it wrong.
