I remember when the conversation was between Slater and Hunt for QLD fullback and my argument against Slater was that he always jumped up for bombs he didn’t have to and made too many errors.

Wouldn`t matter how long his studs are .
He ends up stepping on the edge / upper part of his boot . I`ve watched him in slow mo enough to know not to blame his boots . It`s a flaw in his stepping / stopping technique .
Very true. But I reckon we should not get too carried away here. Two terrible games for him, and I mean terrible... however, new coach, new structures/combos, strong defensive mindset etc., and yeah, no Mam to feed off. It's early days though. He'll come good people!! This week ;)

I'd like him to put a cork in his ball playing for the moment tbh. I'm sure it's been mentioned in here before but just keep sniffing around the forwards for an offload and burn mofos with his speed. Plus that puts defences in 2 minds seeing him lurking out the back.

yeah, it's a bit weird seeing him force plays like they're scripted when he's supposed to be this off the cuff phenom. way down on confidence at present.
i'm with @Harry Sack, just run the ball mate. Get busy and look for any offloads or broken play. Get into DH and take a scoot, keep us on the front foot. Basic stuff you're more than capable of doing while rebuilding the confidence.

Yes it's stuff like that which doesn't show up in his errors, and why he's playing worse than stats suggest. If it was just that his hands had deserted him then fine, but he also looks lost out there. Defensive effort seemed better against the Cowboys at least.

I guess the thing though is that we are winning despite him being pretty poor. You don't want to be peaking early I guess, so if we can scrap wins while being off, it should help in the back end of the season when hopefully everyone is firing.

And Madge gave credit for organising the defence during the early onslaught by the Cowboys .
So some positives . But some of his mistakes in attack are under 10s stuff .

I feel like he's still figuring out how to play with Bhunt on the left.
Bhunt and Reyno both like to take it into the line and that's allowing the defence to get up in his face before he even gets it.
Them committing to that means our winger is open though... so I'd like to see them use Walsh as a decoy as well and if the defence just keeps shooting up then keep punishing them until they stop.
If they are going to give it to Walsh then he needs to be deeper or they need to get him the ball quicker.
But at times it doesn't need to be so perfect from Bhunt and Reynolds... if the defence is already shot then just give him the ball to work the 3v2 before they can get in his face.
