Ricky Stuart quits Parra for Canberra.

Re: Buzzes Big Story

I thought that happened yesterday?

Re: Buzzes Big Story

And tomorrow Norman quits Parra for Raiders.....

Re: Buzzes Big Story

Yep, that was it:
@BuzzRothfield: BREAKING: Ricky Stuart has officially quit Parramatta tonight to sign a 3-year deal at Canberra Raiders - details @dailytelegraph ASAP

Hardly worth staying out if bed for.

Not a good move for either party.

Stuart could make Canberra competitive for a season or two but he's extremely limited as a coach and when the players stop believing in his game-plan, then things can get real ugly.

On the other hand, he's made a mess at Parramatta and you'd hate to be the next coach coming in trying to fix the place up. They're basically back at Step 1 when most are at least on 4 and things aren't looking very bright for the future. There's also word that this may impact the Hopoate decision.

The link if anyone's interested.

There must be more to the story. Have heard numerous bits and pieces about the Parra board being completely different from the board that signed him and apparently they like to poke their noses in. Still, considering the way he gutted that club it's poor form IMO. Who take the head coaching role at Parra? Henry? Would happily hand back Kearney.....

Don't get me wrong I don't rate him as a coach, but I agree with the points Paul Kent made about him on NRL 360, and the 08 season was one of them.

I don't think any coach would've take control of Parramatta this year and done a better job. Stuart inherited a below par roster with Mannah and Hayne the only good players and a club that was experiencing in-fighting in the offices so the club was a complete rabble on and off the field. Parramatta are in the lobby of the Empire State Building and are about to experience a long haul to the observation deck.

Stuart as a coach is limited but his results at the Roosters from 2002-2004 and Cronulla's season in 2008 is proof he coach but he can only do it if he has a star halves pairing aka Fittler/Wing at the Roosters and Kimmorley/Bird in 2008 and supported by a supportive board that has full confidence in the club, the Roosters fell apart after 2004 and the Sharks had a year from hell in 2009 and showed promise after Stuart left mid year in 2010.

The Raiders will be interesting. Stuart is undoubtedly a club legend after his playing deeds during the Raiders golden years but he will need to be up to the job as the Raiders have lost 3 of their best players recently, Campo and other crucial players spending more time on the sidelines and the prospect of Milford.

I love how all the commentators were saying it's poor form from Barba to break his contract. "Players should honour their contracts," blah, blah, blah. However most were encouraging Ricky to go.

I wonder how many players Ricky will sack from the Raiders lineup ?

Will Norman follow him there also ??

So many questions.....

Knew it was on when I heard the red bull truck was backing into the raiders sheds. seriously though it must be Ricky's last roll of the dice
