For those who don't know Steve Carter's(not Panthers player) he was a very good player in the Brisbane competition in the 80's for Wests and Brothers before joining the St George Dragons for a season. Even though he was in the losing Brothers side of the 1986 Grand Final against Wynnum-Manly Seagulls he was probably the best on the field, he did however again get to play a big part in their following grand final win against Redcliffe. Although he didn't play for Queensland against NSW he did play for them when they toured New Zealand in 1987, he passed away Christmas day, aged 51.

RIP Steve Carter

Not that there is ever a good day to pass away, but christmas day .....

Funeral was yesterday.

Snake was a crazy player; he ripped in in that GF and Brothers were in front 6-4 at half time in what would have been the biggest upset. If he plays for Parramatta or the Bulldogs he makes the 'Roo tour.

Like most of the Brothers 87 team he went to Sydney after the GF but only lasted a year and retired.

It is one of the great BRL stories; Brothers were placed in liquidation and players weren't going to get paid. They all swore they keep playing payment or not. Weeks before the GF half have signed to go to Sydney.

Coyne, Gill, Bailey, Mohr, Carter all to the Dragons. Vernon and Stafford to Eels, Rea and Smith to the Bears, LE Man and Kilroy Broncos.
