RIP Todd Parnell

Not many will know who Todd Parnell is, but those who followed the Queensland Cup over the last few seasons probably will. The young fella has lost his life after being punched in the head at a 21st Birthday party on Saturday night.

He formerly played in the Queensland Cup for Toowoomba and Norths. His Bronco connection obviously is through Toowoomba.

Just goes to show it's true what they say - one punch can kill.

I'd met Todd a few times through mutual friends. While not at the top level he was a good footballer and a friendly guy.

Apparently he gave up his 'NRL Dream' because he preferred to stay back and play footy with his mates.

Very talented and nice guy (I met him a couple of times as well).

Just saw coverage of his funeral on Channel 10 news. It's incredibly sad, his teammates looked absolutely shattered, along with his family obviously.

Good to see Sammy T paying respect on behalf of the Broncos.

I was devastated to hear the news. Never met the bloke personally, but any death through stupid violence is just heartbreaking.

Also seen the footage on the news tonight, just horrific. Strength to his friends and family.

Attended the funeral today of young Todd. I was humbled by the out pouring of emotions for him and by the fact that Sam Thiaday, Jamie Simpson and other players took the time to pay their respects. He was the typical Aussie larikin and the world will be a lesser place for his passing. Sadly missed never forgotten. RIP Todd
