I'm gonna cheer for all the underdogs: Lebanon, PNG and Fiji. I'm so over the one way traffic.

Somoa and Tonga should hopefully be good 😀

I'm still banking on PNG beating England.

Love the English commentators when NZ get another chance after the high tackle on SBW.

"OH NO! NOOOOO!"

I think the next world cup needs Lopsided groups again, every single match in the group stage was won by the favourite.

A group with say Australia, England and a decent 2nd tier team with the last being cannon fodder and having 3 spots for the next round.

Then having a weaker group with the best team being a decent 2nd tier team like Fiji or lebanon while the rest are at a Italy or wales level while 1 goes through would be better and you will get alot of close games in the group stage.

so Cleary has reportedly won the halfback role for the QF.

DCE will take Ben Hunt's (reportedly "rested") place on the bench

The England squad to take on PNG.

1. Sam Tomkins (captain)
2. Tommy Makinson
3. Kallum Watkins
4. Herbie Farnworth
6. Jack Welsby
7. George Williams
8. Tom Burgess
9. Michael McIlorum
11. Elliott Whitehead
12. John Bateman
13. Victor Radley
14. Dom Young
15. Morgan Knowles
16. Matty Lees
17. Mike Cooper
18. Chris Hill
20. Mike McMeeken
21. Marc Sneyd
24. Kai Pearce-Paul

Good luck PNG, you're going to need it.

How the hang is Dom young on the bench?

I think it’s listed wrong. There’s only four backs and then the five-eighth. Young will be first player picked.

Listed numerically. Young is the first choice winger over Ryan Hall (5).

Still makes more sense then our number soup squad lists

Haven't watched a game yet, it's not really a 'competition' yet.

When your quarter finals are games like Aus V Lebanon, you've got a serious problem

Samoa have done the same thing as what England did.

They stuffed up the scheduling and organizing of the groups in this one.

The previous WC in England was a lot more competitive. 8 of the 21 group games were decided by 1-12 and 14 from 21 were decided by 20 points or less.

It was a much more competitive group stage.

Also helped by not having the worst rule change in the history of league with six agains as well.
