I'm not sure if there is a Team List Tuesday deal but I'll update the OPs ASAP.

Atleast the biggest game of the weekend is at a semi watchable time.

Australia have announced their line-up to take on Fiji.

It's pretty much what you'd expect minus Cleary & Yeo. The only controversial selection is the decision to play two utilities in Grant and Wighton off the bench. They should get away with it against Fiji but against New Zealand, Tonga and England they could be found out.

**** this number system. Even Mal hates it.

The only good thing about it is some years down the track it will make for some good trivia, that's about it.

Seriously, which moron thought this number system was a good idea and why wasn’t there at least one non-moron in the room to talk sense into the other morons? This is pathetic.

Samoa have named their team.

I actually think they could give England a good challenge. The only thing that really lets them down is the spine.

I don’t understand this numbering system at all… or have they gone the opposite to Australia, and I’m assuming the world, and named their squad based on likely positions they’ll play???

I mean surely they didn’t, because it would be insanity and make no sense, but why else is Suaalii named in the 1 jersey instead of 56….

Somehow Samoa have less hookers than the broncos did this year

Samoa have obviously assigned their numbers starting with the likely best 17

in Australia's case, Michale Hagan came up with our numbering system with the Captain getting # 1 and the rest being assigned numbers based on when they made their Aussie debut (if they haven't debuted yet they are in alphabetical order)

Are we all just going to ignore the thread title?

It’s a real shame the time slots these games will be on in Aus. Should be some cracking matches that I’m definitely not watching live

Harry Grant has reportedly picked up a rib injury after slamming into the goal posts at training.

he took a long time to get up and had to ice his ribs.

Grant has said it won't stop him making his debut

here is some new information regarding this stupid numbering system for the World Cup.

apparently, all rugby league playing nations were sent this proposal and voted on it in 2019.

Mal has criticised Australian officials for voting for this current system.

Mal Says:

“We signed off on it about two years ago, so I have no real comeback on it… We had no idea when it was signed off on,” Meninga said on SEN.

“We have 13 debutants on tour, so the jersey that they get to play in for the very first test is their tour number, Isaiah Yeo is number 24 mainly because of where he sits on the alphabet, he is the premier 13 of our competition.

“It takes away from the excitement of your debutants in particular, having their very first test match jersey and it’s a number that doesn’t resonate with anyone, because it’s not the position he plays in.”

“The supporters will be trying to understand who’s in the 24 jersey that’s playing in the middle,” Meninga said.

“I’m just a little bit disappointed for the players from a positional point of view, because the first jersey they put on won’t be the one they play in.

“A lot of teams might pick a 1-17, but we’re not in a position to do that because we’ve got 24 great players and I’m not too sure who will make up the final 17, when we hopefully go into the Grand Final of a World Cup.”

Matty Johns says

“I cannot believe it, each game you should earn your jersey one through 17, the couple of sixes (test jerseys) I got, they’re the special ones because they’re the ones you earned,” Johns told SEN 1170.

“During the game, I think looking at Latrell (Mitchell) in the number eight jersey, for the organisers I think they’ve got it wrong, and Australia I think we’ve got it wrong, I honestly hate it.

“The traditional jerseys and numbers are part of the history of the sport, and you shouldn’t tamper with it.”
