POST GAME [Round 1, 2025] Broncos vs Roosters

Easy win against a pretty weak side, but we have had a habit of throwing games like this away.

Rorters are going to have a long, tough year. They lack quality.

I said you can win round one with 16 points, I was wrong you only need 15.

Thought that was as close to a perfect round one performance from the Broncos- might be piped by round on 88.

The Broncos did the smart things well, Paix was good at dummy half with his little parts of deception. Held up the markers and A well and brought time and space for his forwards and just stream through the middle in support.

Biggest win against the Roosters since 1989 -36-2.

Wish there was Cup so the whole squad could play well.

Everyone was exceptional, apart from Gosiewski. Apart from the fall over try I thought he was horrible. Maybe the weakest forward in the NRL. Piakura is so much better I think Madge just wants him to work for his spot.
But what did piakura do when he got on. Gave away a dumb penalty
Stupid thing to do if you wanna show a coach you deserve a starting position

I couldn't believe how stupid the Roosters were, lazy on shorts- just not counting numbers. Splits wrong, not covering inside.

Not scrambling, just letting Reynolds drift across and do whatever he wants.

Robinson always talks about having an Alpha- well they don't anymore. I was happy for Toia that was about it.

Broncos just took advantage of everything lazy the Roosters did.

Roosters have a long season ahead, they better Hope they can get Manu back early.

When you're watching a team really click and fire on all cylinders, you'll see some incredible 'too good to be true' team tries where everything falls into place like magic and it seems just 'meant to be'. It's easy to write these off as just 'lucky', but these players giving 100%, supporting each other, killing themselves to be around the ball and maximise every opportunity is what creates that 'luck'.

We had a number of these sorts of moments and tries in 2015 when we made the grand final. We had some more in 2023.

And we saw one tonight. This team is going to be special this year.

I was thinking of that 2015 game against Canberra when Hunt crossed over for us tonight

Field is fucked. We've had a few scattered showers in Sydney this week but that deck looked a total cow paddock. Royal Randwick, across the road, is currently rated a Good 4 dry track for the weekend.

Must have been heavily used, which is surprising, given it has been the off season for footy.
