I don’t think any changes will be made. Madge will give them a few more games then start making changes. I would love to see Mozer get a run this season, especially if others are underperforming.

When is Piakura due back? Gosiewski as the alternative is atrocious.

I think we saw two top four sides playing scrappy in round 1. Our d was decent enough (I think we only conceded two line breaks? And that’s against a virtually full strength riff) and we had our plodder second rower and a fill in butcher tries that pretty much every other 2rf in the comp would have scored.

I reckon even playing like we did last night that we would have put away most sides in the comp, riff’s d is just obviously in another dimension. It’s a good wake up call and better long term than scraping to a win against a dog shit defensive unit like the cows
 
I dont think the dropped balls by the edge players to bomb tries is on the catcher TBH.
Those passes need to be in the breadbasket and delivered with softer hands especially when the passer wasn't pressured too much.
Ezra in particular needs work on that if he's to become a genuine 5/8 and play making option

Although interesting to note that we've not been able to train for 6 months due to internationals and an exhibition match on the other side of the planet... Sydney will be less interested in this fact

Don't dwell on it. Lets all look at things after 5 rounds or so.

"Still" hold my concerns about our 2nd row depth...
 
bummer. always have 0 interest in other games after a Broncos loss. If they win I ended up watching most of the footy on the weekend.

You'll find that the media and talking heads will always paint us negatively because that's what gets the clicks and views. Take most things with a grain of salt.

Penrith were Penrith.

They don't make errors and they put you under pressure, if you fold, they'll get you, that's the brilliance of Penrith. If we had that ability, we'd probably have forged a dynasty of our own with the quality of players we have in our side.

You could almost watch every Penrith game and know what you have to do to beat them, complete high and execute well. They grind you down with Cleary's kicking game and eventually get you. Their team isn't that spectacular, their ability to consistently complete sets, not make errors and have you ruck it out from your own corner, that's how they beat you.
 
Penrith actually did make some uncharacteristic errors last night. A couple weren’t ruled as such, but more times than I can remember we handed it straight back almost immediately.
 
Penrith were pretty poor, we were just in another league of awful ourselves last night. Penrith will rightly get a lot of confidence out of being so bad but still smashing us.

It was an absolutely awful quality game but that's what the six again era is - awful game after awful game.

I think Staggs screwed us royally right before half time, he drops the ball to gift possession and then comes charging out of the line which opens it up for Talagi to kick to his winger.

12-0 at half-time would have been a good result given how shit we were, 18-0 probably made it too hard.
 
Didn't watch the game again. Giving myself PTSD but I watched Reyno's and Madge's press video instead
