Macca needs to be an 80 minute player next week. Not next year, not the year after.

Pass the fucking baaaall!

How did the bench go? Should we get more experience on the bench for next week?

because his forwards get good service and are getting the ball at speed rather than being flat footed all the time.

even when our forwards are getting the ball at speed there getting whacked at the line and stopped in there tracks

I was happy with it. We put in. Was ****ed off with Wallace' lazy attempt at a tackle for Cherry Evans try.

We were ****ing terrible at marking down our left hand side. there were 5 times where they outnumbered us out wide (2 lead to tries) and that was due to poor marking.

Unfortunately we played to our abilities and thats not much at the moment I'm afraid. Wallace, Norman, Reed, Hoffman & Stagg just aren't very good at rugby league. Thaiday is out of position and Gillett needs to learn fundamentals.

Agree with most of that but can't agree with the call on Hoffman, he was one of our best tonight

rather than blindly saying how much the broncos suck i'm going to offer an analysis. Reed is gone. bring kahu on wing and hoffman in centre. Reed refused to pass to hoffman and could do nothing himself. Scott prince really adds something. his playmaking will improve as he gels. but individually he does well. wallace showed some decent individual skill a few times. is good at support play. Norman is good at timing his runs but can't actually break the line from fullback. Don't blame Hodges for the defence, the line wasn't shifting. he was where the 2rf should have been, they ended up playing with hodges and maranta defending against about 3/4. gillet is smart enough to support but couldn't catch a ball tonight. parker needs to learn to pass missed a few dangerous runs missed because of it. not one of our frf's nor parker could make meters. mcollough played really well. hunt not so much. norman is the only issue in our spine but is okay just doesn't add much. our frfs need a reality check. they were slow and sluggish. 2rf not too bad. got distracted during stagg's minutes. glenn had damaging runs. possibly best forward.

Good to see Stephen Kearney has tighten our defense. I never rated him as a first grade coach but an assistant he's top notch

Hard to see any value in having Dodds on the bench when he makes one hit up. OUr bench prop needs to be a big bopper who runs on makes 5 big hit ups and goes off.

The problem is Prince can't defend so Hodges is consistently left outnumbered. I thought Thaiday went ok, we don't have much choice but to play him in the front row, especially after Hannants sluggish performance. Gillett played quite well too I thought.

In fairness to Reed, my call on him was that I rated Copley & Beale higher. In hindsight, I'd rate Gagai & Kahu better prospects too but they also demonstrate my point that circumstances have gotten in their way and they're no longer available to us. Well, except for Kahu who I don't believe is the same player he was in 2010-11. If he fails to fire, then Hoffman will have to make do in the centres with either Berryman or Kemp slotting onto the wing.

Heck, both of them could come in based on what Maranta dished up tonight. Very ordinary stuff from him.

I didn't have a problem with Macca tonight. Arguably our best out there alongside McGuire. Just not the right gameplan tonight from the team.

Bit harsh on Maranta IMO. Him and Hodges were useless in defense, and in attack, Hodges obviously doesn't trust him enough to get the ball to him.

I don't think it was Prince's fault. It was always either Gillett or Hodges who had their opposition just painfully beat them on the outside. I'd say Gillett should get most of the blame for us getting outnumbered constantly.

Reed is streets ahead of the others defensively so it's a bit of a balancing act, im torn, i don't think what we would gain in attack from hoffman would make up for what we would lose in defence. I wouldn't be against giving hoffman the opportunity to prove himself though.

Oh and one more thing. Please stop trying to kill poor Ben Hunt's career. Send him to QLD Cup or send him to another team to play halfback or 5/8th.

It pains me to say this but for too long now I have been guilty of blindly defending the club, the coaching staff and its players, I now realise I have been seeing what I have been wanting to see, this goes longer then just Lockyer's departure but even since then what exactly has the club done to counter that? we have lost all direction in our recruitment, retainment, our coaching techniques that are too focused on strength and not on getting the balance of the side right in attack and defence, I'm not going to pretend to have all the answers because I don't, all I do know is something seriously needs to happen and happen now, I could stand a serious shakeup like what happened in 1999 when we were forced to make some serious calls on the makeup of our side if your prepared to take short term hits for longterm benefits. Show us your prepared to make those tough calls or get a new job Griffin.

Ok, easy to talk about the negatives because, well after tonight there are just too many. Anyone got any positives out of the match?

First half we didn't look too bad. Promising signs.

The two 4 on 2 defence lapses on our right killed us.....how did that happen twice

Prince out of position?

for me we are too similar across the field, we need 2 or 3 really big forwards. anderson looked good in the trial against the warriors, i think he needs to come onto the bench for stagg, stagg did nothing tonight.... well nothing good anyway. hannant was woeful and dodds was ordinary at best. hopefully hala is fit again soon, he has the impact we need off the bench. ive never been a big fan off hoffman but he might just have a spot at centre. as has been mentioned here tonight, he looked good in his couple of touchs there and i'd like too see him get a go there for a few weeks. seriously we need a couple of wingers with some out and out pace!!! if kemp can make a tackle and still has his speed, get him in there for reed.

The first half was gifted to us by Manly being idiots on the field and giving us easy meters with penalties.
