Round 1 Lineup

I've never heard anything that he doesnt get along with people. He was popular with everyone at Redcliffe and always had plenty of time for the fans. All the blokes i know personally who played with him at the Broncos and at Redcliffe didnt have any issue with him. I've met him plenty of times and he comes across as a fairly quiet sort of bloke.

People on here dragging up something that happened over 5 years ago and newspaper articles from 2 years ago about an ex girlfriend from way in the past to suit their sad little agenda against him is fairly sad. He isnt the same bloke as he was then and i dont think some people can accept it.
Make him a YouTube highlights video with dope tunes dropped over the top and all will be forgotten.

Glad to hear it. I think he appears to have a lot of leadership potential.

On your second point though, although I personally don’t care to bring up his past, what exactly is the statute of limitations on society looking down on you for abusive a partner?

I can accept it but I’m not surprised that people can’t just accept that.

I think the arguments were fair when he joined the club and I was one of them. The jury was still out then as less time had passed since the incidents which were very serious. I am happy to say I have been proven wrong. You can't fault his ability to turn his life around and he has earned the respect he now has.

Its fair imo for people not to forgive his actions back then. They were disgraceful.

I think after an incident like that though you can only really judge his actions since. He has kept his nose clean for a long time now and he has made the most of the opportunity he has been given. I do think people are waiting for him to slip up again so they can say i told you so.

I completely agree and I have a far from perfect past, and have definitely seen people turn their lives around beyond belief, so I don’t have a holier than thou mentality.

But I’m sure there’s some people out there who’ve never needed to go through that level
of growth and for them it must be pretty hard to look past Lodge’s disgraceful actions. I can see their point of view.

I reckon Macca is going to be captain, there is my left-field thought.

I don't rate Niu very highly, but Isucko should never be considered for 1 again, he is a current version of Josh Hoffman and needs to realise his only spot in first grade is on the wing.

I know I'm replying late into the topic.......but

Perfect summation of Idroppo...FWIW. I'd never thought of that comparison but...yeah, spot on. (although...left right out, wouldn't be a bad position to place him in either)

Fullback was the only issue I had with your R1 team BTW.....I don't have an answer either. Niu?
....sure ...**** it.....why not.

Does anyone know who our medical / conditioning team are going forward. Been little mention other than a rumour or two. Most important in my book.

Lodge has been helping a local PNG team lately. He's organising for an old set of Redcliffe jersies to be shipped up north for the boys to use. Probably won't sway a lot of opinions but he's got my vote

You reckon he is already signed for Redcliffe when they enter the comp?

I'd pick Milford. But Kevvie ruled that out so it was pointless putting him there.

I don’t think Redcliffe could start signing anyone until they actually get the license and thugs have been pretty quiet on that front lately.
Lodge could be one player they’d be interested in though.

Id be surprised if he ended up at the Phins despite the respect he has for them. He will go back to Sydney if he leaves here imo. Possibly the warriors for a couple of years.

Disagree on the Croft assessment. I actually think he's a fair player - he's like hunt but with upsides. So kevvie may go that way in the end, never know!

What I can say about Croft is he's highly competitive and passionate. That's what you want on the field.
If we're all apparently holding onto this glimmer of hope that Walters can somehow perform some sort of Lazarus like resurrection on the career of Milford then I don't see how it's so much more far fetched that he might be able to do the same with Brodie Croft.

This is spot on. Honestly, everyone stuffs up in life, some more seriously than others and in Lodge's case it wasn't exactly a minor misdemeanour. In fact, it was at the fairly sharp end of the scale in most people's eyes. For some people his actions won't ever be forgivable and that's fair enough. I imagine the way domestic violence and violence in general has affected or impacted your life may have a big say on how you view Lodge and your willingness to forgive and forget such actions.

That said, there is only one thing the perpetrator can do after something like this and that is work tirelessly to turn your life around and make amends. For some, this still won't redeem him in their eyes and as I said, that is fine and reasonable too, but for Lodge it's the only way back to redeeming himself in the eyes of the people who can forgive him, and you'd have to concede that he appears to be making sincere efforts to go down that path in a meaningful way.
