POST GAME [Round 11, 2023] Broncos vs Storm

The forwards were good (except Capewell), we definitely didn't lose it in the middle

The backs were shocking. Haas and Carrigan could run for 300 metres each and we'd still lose with the errors they came up with. Melbourne got results off kicks all night. Very similar to the Rabbits game.
We hang onto the ball at the back even 2-3 more times and we come away with a win there - even in spite of Herbie's binning. PC's not so much - that pretty much killed their energy.

Cobbo -3. Couldn’t catch a cold in Melbourne.
Herbie - minus 2. Dumb shit all night. Has literally no idea when to pass and then tries to force them when it’s too late.
Walters -1. Rubbish game tonight and stupid penalties.

Other notables - Walsh’s hands were almost as bad as Cobbo, but did some decent things in attack.

One on one strips. We are obsessed with them and didn’t get away with one all night. Gave up repeated 6 agains and penalties trying.

Time to put them away Kevin because our discipline is terrible.

Did I hurt your feelings when I said that? You seem to be really focused on that... Get over it dude.

I just find it funny you can base our season on one performance after so many good performances this year, it's not won in April or May.

What a garbage game of rugby league. I was keen for some Thursday night footy after none for magic round. Still found the bunker hilarious in that Walsh disallowed try though. "Reece Walsh takes possession of the ball (broncos fans at my house start fist pumping)......... after Ezra Mam makes contact with the Storm player" :rofl

That would have to be the absolutely worst one sided referring I have ever seen. The officials done what ever they could to give Melbourne the advantage, whether it was the completely ridiculous 6 agains or the ridiculous sin bins. We were the better team and deserved the win.

Kevin what the hell are you thinking playing Paix for less then 10 minutes in a game we needed spark from dummyhalf. That was the worst use of our bench you could of possibly done. Flegler on for so long especially, when we had a fresh Hetherington to bring on.

Worst refereeing performance I’ve seen this season. Not just us, plenty of weird dodgy calls went our way as well, it was just incompetent. Also the second half was reffed completely different to the first half… a shame really

kev’s bench was weird. I didn’t like it.

the two sin bins lost it for us, apart from that we were pretty good I thought.

resilient and hung in there.

Both our losses this year have been unlucky rather than just being shit. Big improvements from the last few years.

We beat Penrith yes, by 1 point and we just held on. Storm demolish us 99% of the time, we haven't beaten them since 2016. We got dusted up by Souths also. Storm and Souths, 2 top 4 teams. Who have we beaten other than Penrith who are genuine contenders?
Why are you even a fan of this team? We are having the best season we have had in years and you never have anything but disdain for them? I’m not saying you should be a cheerleader but at some point it might be better for your mental health to support a team you actually like.

It's actually heartbreaking. Like I feel sick, putting that much effort in to get shafted so hard.

Losing Reyno, all the fucking rubbish going against like ball bouncing to them etc, its just so fucked.
Losing Reynolds hurt but we are our worst enemy. We just constantly throw one pass too many and it's costing us games now.

We lost that game, Storm certainly didn't win it.

Very proud of the team. If Reynolds doesn't go off, we win that by 18 points. We were fucked over by the refs, we couldn't get any territory because they were off-side every PTB, and we had no one with any kicking distance to get the ball deep in their end. They were getting penalties and 6-agains routinely.

And both of those sin bins. Carrigan SLIDES his arms down NAS and barely grazes his leg, that is not a hip drop. And I maintain that Herbie DOES NOT impede the Storm player at all, the flog takes the most embarrassingly extravagant dive, and the refs use it as an excuse to **** us over.

We didn't get the win but we didn't get bullied by them either, in fact if anything there will be a heap of their players in round 27 that are going to be a little nervous.

Backs were poor. Kotoni barely sighted. Arthars did well for his try but he just has no impact like Oatsey. Walsh at least tried to spark something. Cobbo the game seemed to pass him by and he just seemed a bit error prone.

Truly one of the more frustrating and happier losses we will ever have. We lost no fans tonight after the adversity faced.

I don’t think I’ve ever said the word **** more in a game than I did tonight some of the reffing absolutely floored me.

The obvious one was Carrigans sin bin. I think 100% of rugby league fans would agree that it is not a sin bin. I (and most of you) would say it isn’t even a penalty, but at what stage do we accept that something like that is an accident and is just a penalty without a sinbin, the same as a high tackle on someone falling. A sin bin is such a big penalty in the game these days.

I’ve recently started watching ice hockey. Their bin is 1/30th of the game and if there is a score it is over. Different sport obviously as far as possession is concerned but surely the idea of receiving your penalty in the form of a man down shouldn’t continue once you have got the ultimate goal of the sport.

Anyway, I’m so proud of our effort tonight. A fair go and we win that easy I think. Once again a game against Melbourne (like 2015) convinces me we are the real deal.
