I think it's the right decision. Mam made a dumb decision and was punished for it by the courts, and a huge financial penalty from the club. What Mam did was 1000x worse when comparing the 2, but it wasn't anything to do with his employer. What Marty did was an attack on the organisation, so he needed to be removed from that and not stay as a cancer.
I think the decision in itself is fine... it's just the optics are horrible considering this is the weekend that Ezra returns.

Sydney won't report it the way that you have spelled out... they will be creating the narrative that broncos gave Ezra a pass because of his status and potential, whereas veteran Marty is expendable and being used to make an example of.

Still a good chance there will be a few podcasts or media interviews looking to get a hold of him to get secretes from the inside of the broncos
I don't know that he's that kind of bloke. It's also not in his best interests to slag off his club or coach if he wants to get another year of football somewhere.

The optics are good in that the senior players have come out in support of the coach.

I honestly don't care about the optics, or what the Sydney media report. Reporting these days is exclusively click bait.

A player has liked a post bagging the coach. Pack your bags.

It's good that the senior group have made the call, but let's see how they respond on the field tomorrow.

If they walk the talk then it was them, if not then it could be them toeing the company line

That's not how it's being reported:

"Taupau had been asked to front the Broncos senior playing group but will now instead leave the club."
"The decision is a line-in-the-sand moment at the Broncos under Maguire, who wants complete cultural buy-in as pressure builds on Brisbane to snap a 19-year premiership drought. It is understood Brisbane’s senior leadership group, which includes skipper Adam Reynolds and Pat Carrigan, were bitterly disappointed with Taupau’s actions. Taupau has played just one NRL game for Brisbane this year and was unlikely to feature in any of Maguire’s plans moving forwards, hence the decision from both parties to split. It allows the 35-year-old to return to Sydney. Taupau, who was off-contract at season’s end at Brisbane, is holding out hope that he will be able to join an NRL club and extend his playing career."

I know how it's being reported... it's time for the players to walk the talk now

I feel like everything that has happened this week will pull the team together. Surely we have a siege mentality going into this game.

If they can’t get up for this…. We are in massive trouble!

We are in massive trouble.

Interesting reporting saying he was unlikely to feature moving forward. I imagine he would have been an almost lock to feature at some point during origin.

On the flip side, hopefully it means Maguire might actually play the kids in Te Kura and now he's fit again, Semu.

I would love to see Maguire give Semu a shot at middle and backrow just quietly and see what happens.

All you kids who rage about "click bait" like it's something new, should read Ogilvy on Advertising.

Consistency please, Broncos.

It’s okay to ‘amicably’ part ways with Marty immediately for liking a post about the truth about Madge .. but all good when Reyno and Payne can like a post that was in support of the pos who knocked Reece into next week.

I’ve always thought Pat was, and still is really disappointed, so let down and so pissed off .. especially with his Captain.

Pat is a pro, so he’ll do whatever he needs to do to remain that way .. even tho deep down, ever since that incident he mighta felt like punching a few *****.

Wonder how much division Reyno and Payne caused with their dumb likes. But hey, we need them, nothing to see here.

Maybe whatever it was that Madge says he walked into at the Broncs, and whatever it was it didn’t sound like a pleasant experience for him, it was all about how much the players resented Madge, and absolutely hated what he did to Reece.

But hey .. whatever is going on with our season.. it’s all the players fault aye.
