What's the take on Shibasaki? Is he the dude with the killer mullet?
Pangai is going to be a weapon in the back row. Dissapointed though Shibasaki isnt getting onto the wing and Oates isnt in the back row. I fear this could be the decision that gets Oates to leave us as i cant see a better chance to give him a shot. Not impressed with the bench if i'm being honest. Sims and Taga will need to have big games, and unless there are players under an injury cloud i never see the value of having a back in there.
Fifita is interesting as a reserve. I think his defence and effort in the last couple of games has been ordinary to say the least.
Pangai on the left might be good. He will be marking up on Matterson.
Hopefully Milford can work on his combination with him this week at training and have him running at Keary all night long.
Keary is on the other side, isn't he?
Not sure.
I remember seeing him defend on the right at one stage there but that could have just been temporary.
Wish Bennett would stop beating around the bush.
Enough of the "resting" or "injured" bullshit that he's using to mask accountability for poor performances. Call it as it is, Bird has been dropped. Just as Niko was earlier in the season.
I agree with this. This is something I will never bag Bennett on... he's very good at taking the best approach for each individual. Some require a harsh public stance, others require tact and diplomacy, and Wayne excels at this.what possible positive outcome would come from slamming a player in the media, just so fans can feel vindicated?
This is purely PR ... he isn't using the "injured" line to mask accountability for poor performances at all, you can be guaranteed the players are hearing what needs to be said from Bennett, it is just being done behind closed doors, where it should.
calling a player out publicly only serves to shame the player in question, potentially eroding their morale and confidence. it also could have the side affect of eroding the entire teams confidence and morale, for fear they will be the next player publicly shamed by their coach if their form drops ...
and if you think that performances will improve with the players morale and confidence low ... well i can tell you they won't, in fact they will probably get worse
