PRE-GAME Round 11 - Broncos vs Roosters

This. Exactly right. And at half time not even the coach cares enough to address the players.

That was the most telling sign of all. The Bennett of old would have been flying up them after a 1st half like that. Now, he's nowhere to be seen. Still in the coaches box brooding

with Glenn out I think it a good chance to play Bird where we actually signed him to play (a position even Locky thinks he should play) ... see how that goes. If Kahu is ready, I would also bring him onto the wing for Isaako.

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Roberts
4. Opacic
5. Isaako/Kahu (if fit)
6. Milford
7. Anyone but Niko
8. Lodge
9. McCullough
10. Thaiday
11. Pangai Jnr
12. Su'A
13. Bird

14. Niko
15. Ofahengue
16. Tagatese
17. Anyone but Sims (Carrigan maybe)

firstly, how do you know?

secondly, there are old story that Bennett has used this tactic before ... looks at them at half time, then walks out without saying a word

Well it didn't work with this lot. They came out and played like ass.

Time to loose opa and get a halfback in and kodi to the bench. So sick of this dysfunctional shit !!

It's pretty clear after the storm game that every coach and halfback is going to exploit boyd's defensive deficiencies at fullback by kicking in behind our line. Especially on our right side where isaako is also always out of position too. I expect Cronk to be practicing this all week and tries will be scored in this fashion again on a slippery suncorp field.

WTF ... one poor game from him all season is enough for you to want him out of the team ... if that's your standard we will need to find an entire new squad

Not an entire squad but close to half !

That's what good teams do, they pick at opponents weak spots. They run set plays to exploit these weak spots and take us apart. Manly did their homework on us and we had nothing to throw back at them. I don't know why, but our 1 backline sweep play that we've done a million times didn't work?? Nor did Milford's 1 out bash and barge close to the line??
They look totally clueless.
Cronk is going to have a fucking field day next week while we run around tripping each other over. Latrell v Bird will be pleasant to watch too no doubt!

nope ... you set the standard of one poor game ... TPJ may survive, but that is about it

Touche` ! i think we need a decent shake up , Bennett has been chopping and changing so why not go all out.

That's right. Footballers aren't very smart, let's be honest. That's why you need a coach who can create structures and a plan to drill into these footballers day in day out so they know what to do come game time. Bennett ball only requires a good attitude but that's not enough to win games anymore and why our players look so clueless when a team hits them with tactics.

The play down our right edge where the T brothers pulled our pants down was brilliant. As was DCE's grubber off the scrum for their last try... They are confident plays, executed at the right time in the game. I'm still dumbfounded on how we can go from that exciting attacking football 3 years ago with stinging defence to what we see today?? Overcoached? Unfit? Underdone through injuries?
Nearly 50 missed tackles last night, dropped balls, no confidence. Bennett has been struggling for a few years now to get this team to fire, somethings gotta give so I think we will either see this team click and play the football we know they can or we'll see Bennett make some big changes or possibly step down at the end of the season if things don't improve.

1 Boyd
2 Issako
3 Roberts
4 Opacic
5 Kahu ( if fit ) Shibasaki/Seve if not

6 Milford
7 Dargan/Murphy/Scarlett ( cant decide )

8 Lodge
9 Macca
10 Sammy
11 Oates
12 Sua
13 Bird

14 TPJ
15 Carrigan
16 Offa
17 Nikorima

Our front row rotation needs fixing up. We lose too much impact not having one of Lodge or TPJ on so we need to balance them out better. There is a spot in the second row open for Oates to show what he can do there now, he wont have a better opportunity here to prove his worth. I think Carrigan is worth a spot tbh. He is performing consistently well and isnt afraid to do the dirty work.

Backline pretty much picks itself for me, which probably isnt a good thing. Not so sure either if we swap over Opacic and Roberts or just leave Roberts on the left, but we dont really have any other realistic options to pick anyway. I'd be a little worried about the defence of Seve or Shibasaki at center tbh. If Kahu isnt fit, pick whoever is most impressive from their ISC games and in training early in the week out of Seve or Shibasaki in Oates place. Kodi needs to drop back to bench utility or out of the 17. HE just isnt cutting it at 7. Let Dargan, Scarlett and Murphy fight it out.

Agree with likely team Super Freak but how sad is that. Half the team not Nrl standard at moment and game plan is not under 12s standard...

Can Bennett please go back to 2015 and not teach them how to attack again?

I dont think we need to carry Opacic on the bench unless we really have big doubts over the fitness of our backs. He can fill in at back row and he has played some lock, but unless we really have injury problems i'd prefer to see Kodi there and 3 forwards. Kodi has shown he can be devastating coming off the bench in that hooker role. Sadly, i think we have bigger issues than either of those two.
