POST GAME [Round 12, 2024] Broncos vs Titans

I'd agree with you (on the by 20) if it wasn't for the fact we had both second rowers at centre and a 20yo (who was in cup to work on defence) and hooker at half. Your fast outside backs were always going to expose that all game. Hence why I gave us no chance but apparently not.
Absolutely. I wasn't having a dig at your team. I was just stating that those sort of game stats usually result in a lopsided contest.

GC have been brilliant this past month despite their crippling injury toll. They had no business beating anyone with that lineup but amazingly defeated big brother on their own turf. Thoroughly deserved, I might add.

As for the Broncos, they'll be just fine. They lack that defensive "steel" they had last season which isn't surprising considering the losses of Flegler, Capewell etc. But there is some supreme talent on this team and they are still a chance of some silverware. Their forward depth is non existent though and that could be a factor if further injuries occur.

And fucking Walsh. He's believing in his own hype and still trying to pull off bullshit every play. No composure. He's looking for miracle passes so keeps the ball loose, which is easily jolted free when tackled. Or firing no-look bullet passes that are fucking impossible to catch, particularly under pressure. We can score points, 34 points suggests as much, we don't need to score every fucking set, but the errors that result from this shit are what put us under defensive pressure and fatigue us. 34 points should be enough to win 90% of games, conceding 36 points is the issue, and low-percentage brain fart hero plays are why Reece needs to look at players like Krisnan Inu to see how his career trajectory may go.

Reece still has a lot to learn and it's precisely why he is not ready for origin.

QLD can't afford those errors in SOO.

We need to get Kearney or Corvo back to the club to coach some ruthless aggression into our defence. Relying on flashy shit from the likes of Walsh and Mam everytime is not going to get us to where we need to be.
Kearney was here from like 2013 - 2016 or something... 2015 was a stand out year, but it was bend dont break... it was definitely not fast linespeed and wrestling.

We need a defensive coach that can teach modern defence... emphasis on the teach because players coming into first grade here dont seem to know anything based on Reynolds comments from when he first got here.

To all those cocky bigheads that were spouting last week about 'We will smash the Titans' and 'Broncos only need to turn up' I will put today's loss down to you. Maybe you will learn a lesson ....but I doubt it.
Very disappointing game .....the players thought they had it in the bag.... just like on Grand Final day. So tired of the inconsistency. Individual players did well but as a team, we failed.

Well we should have smashed them but our team didn’t turn up! Fancy having high expectations on a team that played in a grand final last year.

How is it those fans' fault (I wasn't one of them) for the players not turning up today?

That last Titans try of the first half is a great demonstration of the state of the team currently. 3 on 1, the Titan frog marches our defenders backwards a good 5-6 metres, he gets turned over onto his back, Haas comes in as 4th defender, Walters has his hands all over the ball....Yet he still finds a way to muscle his ball playing arm out and ground it despite all those challenges.

Lethargic, complacent, not switched on. It's like the whole lot of them had both eyes on the weekend off.

This is why I DO want Walsh playing Origin. Slater wasn't as erratic as Walsh, but they both shared the trait of going for low-percentage hero plays. Slater learned to get it out of his game, he needs to impart that wisdom in Reece. And having that lesson coming from one of the great fullbacks, you would think he'd be receptive to it (seeing as he sure as **** hadn't taken it on board from when our coaching staff have tried to get it through to him).

Most disappointing thing about that loss is the bigger picture at the end of the year... that loss could be the difference between making the top 4 or not... it could mean the difference in being able to rest players later in the year... it could mean the difference between a home final or not.

It's a game they should've won and would've set us up nicely heading into origin, but now they have to make up that loss from a game they aren't expected to win.

We really need to have a strong origin period now except the depth and players we were going to rely on are injured and for the majority of the origin period when we need them (Sailor for Walsh, Reynolds not playing origin, Te Kura coming in for Patty or Payne, etc.)

@BroncsFan I've been thinking the same, that game was probably pretty disastrous for our top 4 hopes. Can't see Sharks/Storm/Panthers/Roosters dropping too many games.

We play like that against Panthers, its' 40+ to 10.

Feels like we're actually getting further away then closer to where we need to be.

Kevy fucking livid in the post match presser. The lads won't be putting on a shonky defensive display like that again.

Individual errors are costing us.

If we halved the error count we’d give ourselves a much better chance.

Fair play to the Tits. They took advantage of that and deserved their win. They wanted it more.

This season hasn’t panned out as we were all hoping, but let’s not give up.

Plenty of footy ahead….. a bye coming up….. rest some limbs, and work hard on the basics. Come back and make a statement by beating the Sharks will go a long way to getting this season back on track.

Neither our defence nor the officiating was NRL standard today.

I would like to know one thing though ... Regarding the knock on rulings against Jock and Cobbo, have they officially changed that interpretation or is it one of their usual one-off game changes .... Because in those situations they have for the last 5 years been ruling that if a tackler makes contact with the ball while attempting a tackle it is not played at hence play on. Not how they ruled today
Not even close to how they’ve been ruling it. I hate it when it happens and it’s obvious they are making a tackle, but this is one of the only rules they have been consistent with for a long time now.

First loss for a while that I’ve been super pissed off about.

Dumb footy mixed with lack of effort.

The team is lacking some cohesion and bonding. Do a reset over the bye period and hopefully come out a bit rested and more of a team.

If you go back and look at our form leading into this one you could probably have picked the result (and made a tidy profit).

For whatever reason this year we don't seem interested in doing the hard yards. We seem to have the mentality of forget defence lets just score more points then them. If we want to play high risk footy we need to be able to defend our errors when they invariably happen.

Part of me thinks the origin period might be good for us. We won't have our usual flash and brilliance so hopefully our mindframe and game plan settles down and we put more emphasis on defence and working hard.

We aren't beyond fixable but the coaching staff have a big job on their hands and the players need a real attitude adjustment. It's easy to forget how young our team is and they have many lessons to learn still. We've got two weeks to identify what's going wrong at present and nuckle in and work on fixing it.
