PRE-GAME Round 12 - Broncos vs Sharks

TBH it used to annoy the hell out of me that we used to blame Hunt for everything when Milford was flapping around like he is now.
Hunt is playing hooker at the Dragons...

That’s not right, he hurt it round one, played through round two and was operated mid April.
By covid lockdown I mean that he went in for surgery just after the season restart was announced.

Round 2 finished 22nd of March and Round 3 was very very unlikely to ever go ahead... even if it did Round 4 would've been unlikely.

If they knew he was injured in Round 1 then they could've booked him in straight after Round 2 (knowing the comp was unlikely to go ahead).

Looks like he went in for surgery on 27 April... that's 5 weeks after Round 2 finished and he's now been out for 12 weeks.

If he had gone in for surgery after Round 2 that has him back around mid-June... which is around the knights game (round 6)

I just don't give a shit at this point.
A rookie getting minimum wage would do better at fullback, yet our genius coach keeps picking dead weight.
Once Siebold gets some balls and drops those that need dropping, i will get excited to watch the Broncos again.

And who cares, pick anyone anywhere, it won't make any difference.

Obviously Bird won't play again this season, so at some kind of full-strength:

1. Arthars
2. Farnworth
3. Fifita
4. Boyd
5. Coates
6. Staggs
7. Dearden
8. Lodge
9. Paix
10. Haas
11. Glenn (c)
12. Teo
13. Carrigan

14. Turpin
15. Flegler
16. TPJ
17. Oates

It was mid April and elective surgery was hard to get done for a while. They got it done as quickly as they could.

1 Staggs
2 Herbie
3 Kennar
4 Boyd
5 Coates
6 Paix
7 Dearden
8 Flegler
9 Turpin
10 Haas
11 Offa
12 TPJ
13 Carrigan
14 Luke
15 Kennedy
16 Bullemore if not in Canberra/Te'o
17 Lodge

Staggs at one gets him on the ball more and out of the line where his defensive reads are actually awful at times.

Humour me.

Imagine if Seiplod makes Tom a scapegoat and drops him haha.

I would legit burn down the leagues club.

I'm guessing Milford and Boyd are automatic selections again next Tuesday.
Of course a rookie half with less games than our “experienced” players can’t magically save this sinking diving train wreck into an iceberg will be dropped! He was supposed to be the “saviour” and Seibs will feel vindicated that he wasn’t in the 17 until injury forced his hand.

Dearden will then be rewarded by packings his bags, joining a functional team and a coach with balls, and will in future play against us and tear us up to shreds.

Milford is not the guy you put in at fullback mid season. Especially after a lockout too. He needs a whole preseason at fullback to get him in shape. He’s a 5/8th or nothing for mine and I’d be happy to keep him there with dearden.

I can't see Dearden getting dropped next week, not even by Seibold.
And now you’ve just jinxed him. I fully expect him to be dropped because he wasn’t the “saviour” and Seibs will back “experienced” players basically ensuring the dead weight will continue dragging the group down.

If Melbourne gave us a flogging tonight, then the Sharks are gonna “maul” us next week!

If SJ decides to turn up it could very easily be 50+ again.

Sharks are definitely beatable... IF we turn up like we did in the first half and it's a dry track then we can win this game.

If we get some troops back and provided we haven't lost any to injury or suspension from this game then we should be fine... although Milf was clearly injured before and throughout the game

Given Milf's hamstring issues I think he should be rested... the kicking game from storm was far too easy tonight with Milf hobbling around on one leg in the rain.... SJ and Chad are not the greatest of kickers so we can't handicap ourselves by playing an injured fullback.

I think there will be a temptation to move Herbie to fullback (if Milf is rested)... which I'm not entirely against, as long as it doesn't impact on his runs out of our own end. When he moved to center his runs were heavily impacted and we need his meters and quick ptb's

I don't think it will affect him as much as the move to center, as he was making close to 30 tackles a game there... Herbie just wants the ball in his hands and I think he would be hovering around the ruck a lot looking for the ball.

I do really think Herbie could be a long term fullback for us, but if he isn't he looks a very very good winger for us

Great post. I reckon Milford needs a rest either way. He looks shot mentally as I've posted elsewhere. Boyd needs a rest too. Sadly, I can't see them dropped as they are 2 most senior players.

I've always thought Herbie would be a good FB option for us. He looks like he loves playing. The only thing I haven't seen from him, understandably, is his passing game, and kicking, although I imagine that would be good. I think it's worth a shot, irrespective of whether Milford is injured or not, or the temptation to move Sad Sack back to FB.

I know its a different shaped ball, and different way you kick said ball, but considering Herbie's career in football (soccer) I can imagine he can strike a ball pretty well.

That said if Arthurs is actually back this week i'd like to see him at 1 or Staggs.

Staggs might be worth trying at fullback. I've got no idea if he can play there, but considering the we aren't making the finals, we might as well experiment a bit and see if we can find something that works.
