Round 13 - Dragons vs Broncos

It all comes back to the error rate. I think we look pretty good with the ball (way better than what we did last year) when we can hold onto it.

Just way too many dumb errors in our own half, which then puts too much pressure on our defence. If we can just get our error rate down, hopefully it will help our defence.

It felt like we didn't have the ball for most of the second half because we kept dropping it and our defence just doesn't have the fortitude to repel repeat sets.

I like what we are doing with the ball but we need to stop dropping the fucken thing.
You can’t coach stupid

Our first attacking set in the second half was at around 68:00, 28 minutes into the half! Same happened last week - way too much dropped ball coming out of our own half.

Both teams were terrible in goal line defense last night but the difference was they were camped down our end for most of that second half.

I thought one of big turning points of the match was later in the first half when Turpin did a bad play the ball after a promising passage of play.

We had them on the ropes at that point and they were struggling. From that moment they re-grouped and got the upper hand for the rest of the half.

I think if we kept the foot on the throat for another 10 mins at that stage, we go in to half time with a decent lead.

What is the rule with head highs and the sin bin? I thought the contact with the head had to be forceful for it to be a sin bin, otherwise it is put on report and a penalty given.
I was wondering this too. I think they’re allowing coat hangers to just be a penalty but shoulder contact sin bin, except for when the commentators wanted Kelly binned because bronco. In that case keep those arms swinging boys for the most part boys.

Yeah if Cameron Smith has taught us anything about Rugby League, it's that brain Trump's muscle.

Jamayne is teaching us the same lesson :(

Lodge was pretty much ready to offload on every one of his hit ups. And it was the type where he got through the advantage line with an arm free. So if an elite fullback was following at speed it would have been a guaranteed line break.

We made the Dragons look like Storm-beaters. And whats worse? Gerard fucking Beale scored.

Isaako doesn't know what the **** hovering behind the ball is. He has absolutely no fucking idea, he's genuinely one of the worst fullbacks I've ever seen in a Broncos Jersey.

Watch any good fullback, every single ball they're walking along behind ready for a break to support, and if nothing is on the defence is always in two minds because they might receive the ball. Teams defending us don't have to worry, just smash the guy with the ball because there's no one to pass to.

Did Herbie finish the game at fullback?
He played the last 12 minutes there. Hard to tell from a few minutes but I immediately noticed he was sitting behind the ruck most plays waiting to support. It's obviously not natural to him but I'm really keen to see him named there next week with a week of training.

I looked at the score at half time & thought, we have a chance of winning. Looked at the score at 11pm & thought WTF.

Whilst we had one in the bin we received a penalty. The camera was on Alex. I watched closely as I wanted to see him doing or saying something to tell the team to slow it down. Take a heap of time to kick the ball out...

Nothing, he didn't say anything, no hand gestures, nothing.

Sums up our leadership.

Credit to the guys who actually sat through the whole game , I turned off at the sin bin

You all know by now my thought son Kev as a coach....and ive received pelters for it too...

For mine, he is almost certainly the greatest Bronco player....and thats saying something..

And yet, knowing this would again be a tough season, on what basis do we think Kev has the requisite corporate knowledge to turn a teams fortunes around?

Emotionally challenging your team only takes you so far.....you have to have some idea or experience when it coems to identifying and then formulating a plan of action to fix shit...

But i digress....

Dont realise what you miss without Haas in the side until hes not there. Key to winning tonight was post contact metres.....we really could have used him out there...

Lodge & Isaako; For the last 5 weeks id say Lodge has lived up to his contract, before then.....i dont believe so. Has he lifted his game casue hes leaving? Is he trying to prove a point? Im not sure..

Ive got a lot of time for Isaako, and i cant imagine what its been like to be him for the past 2 years. I wish him well, i really like him and want him to succeed.

I believe the club is doing him a diservice by continuing this FB experiment. Not sure why the Tigers want him? Dane Laurie is exactly the type of modern fullback you want. Though Jimmy the jets playing wing right now....is that why they are after him?

Its all about 2022. Ive got us pegged at 5 wins this year, should be enough to miss the spoon. But unfortunately the club is still bleeding from too many self-inflicted wounds.....
