Round 13 ISC - Magpies vs Seagulls

Taylor sets up a neat consolation try for Doyle with a pin-point grubber behind the line.

Seagulls 40
Magpies 32

Full-Time

Anyone else keen to see Eden get a crack for the Broncos? He looks very handy, has a good middle ground between size and speed, seems to be a good finisher as well.
His looked pretty good today but atm it's a pretty tough task to make the backline at the Broncos full strength.

We're in a position where Copley and Maranta are competing to get back into the side, Eden is injury cover.

Can't believe how many forward passes were missed in the last 10 minutes. I actually think Mara was the difference between the two sides. He was great out of dummy half. Waddell was also good from 9 but for the most part it was the 14 playing there and he was quite average. Also the dropped balls from Souths outside backs hurt them. Taylor definitely has a huge future but I don't think he is ready yet. short of injury I want him to spend the full year in qcup.

Eden gets in the team over Maranta in 2014 unfortunately for Eden Maranta has been solid this year and he doesn't have the runs on the board to get a look in.

Wynnum would be satisfied with that result, but not the performance. They skipped out to a 22 point lead and basically bottled it from there by going through the motions. The Magpies bench brought Souths Logan back into the contest but they couldn't maintain any pressure and I thought the Gulls always looked comfortable.

Taylor was good without being great. Was kept quiet in the first half, but I don't think it was through a lack of trying. It seemed as if Gideon was content to keep rolling it through the middle with some very awkward service and the forwards who were meant to pass it kept showing before going themselves. There isn't much you can do in that situation unless you go to dummy half yourself, set a forward up for a quick play the ball and then work your own play.

No surprise at all he had a stronger second half when possession started to even up and the Wynnum Manly defence fatigued.

He's still developing and I'm satisfied with his progress thus far.

I dont know which commentators you guys got but the one that usually covers the web streaming always calls Eden: Brendan Egen.

I thought Wynnum really got the rub of the green, all 50/50's going their way, and a few 20/80's as well.

Having said that, the Magpies didn't help themselves with some unforgivable errors, and their opposition always looked the more composed side. Regardless, Souths has improved a fair bit with the addition of Taylor, and this is certainly aiding his development.

Wynnum arent usually the refs favourites but they did seem to win the majority of calls.

Can't see Bennett ever picking Eden with that retarded haircut.

Is there somewhere to catch a replay of the ch9 games? Id like to see it again from another perspective.

Not sure who was MOM.

Patrick Templeman got the 9 MoM.

There's no way to re-watch them I don't think, you should've recorded it with IQ, if you have Foxtel that is.

It always appears again on Fox, just not as an on demand option.

Next showing appears to be 10:30pm Wednesday on FS1.

Yesterday was pretty much a typical performance from everyone involved. Taylor had some good touches and like I said last week is pacing himself more through games. Dennis is great for him.

I was impressed at Hannay, Dennis or Taylor whoever it was that decided to utilise Taylor's speed wider. Taylor is crazy fast; GPS data has had him at 10m per second over runs.

Dennis can throw balls for him and run off them a little wider.

Taylor.

5 runs
82m
1 line break
1 line break assist
2 try assists
10 tackles
1 miss
14 kicks
