PRE-GAME [Round 14, 2022] Broncos vs Raiders

It's going to be interesting to see how Mams defence goes without Capewell next to him, Kurt would of been constantly talking to Ezra helping him through and helping him make decisions.
TC doesn't have much more experience in first grade compared to Mam so Herbie and TMM are going to have to help these guys out.
100%

Kevvie needs to put a rocket up their asses and try and incentivise rocking up defensively. Robati for mine defended exceptionally last time. But our doubts back then had merit and they rightfully still do. Obviously you can never expect young fella's to be world beaters when it comes to defence specifically within a system if they don't play in the team overly frequently. But I think it comes as an expectation that they should be able to do that without Kurt holding their hands. Ezra appears to be our 6 for the rest of the year now and has to be able to do it, cause if we have learnt anything Kurt is about as reliable of staying fit as Reyno has been this year. Whilst Robati is next cab off the rank at the minute for the Second Row. Brendan has played 2 full games in cup now and his hype is starting to be justified. If Robati realistically wants to keep his second row aspirations alive it really comes down to defending his heart out through this origin period where he will presumably get 1 to 2 more performances after this week.

This could hurt.. a young kid going up against the Storm & Cowboys after this.

Hopefully Mam is up to it.
Very true could deflate his confidence but literally couldn't ask for a better 7 for him to do it alongside. Same with defencee assuming Capes plays. Just have to make sure he puts the same energy and emphasis into defence as he did in the first 2 games.

When did gamble pick up the injury?

I actually thought Hetho’s small stint at 9 larst year was probably the most promising attack I had seen from our 9 in years.

Yayy finally someone thinks the same as me. Weird that Kev hasn't given Kobe another stint at hooker. Everyone on this board thinks Kobe is hopeless at hooker, they're going to have egg on their faces when he crushes it again at hooker when the opportunity arises.

100% he is no slouch there. In saying that I would rather he isn’t our hooker at any stage. Think he is an awesome Lock and should slowly progress into the starting one full time. But he definitely holds the capacity if need be to play hooker a bit more often in a utility value and I think they should look to tactically use the utility a bit better considering Hetho can take 20 minutes off Paix and he can play the other 60. That way you can inject a Tyson through the middle or cover your outside back positions during origin if they have to back up and get worn out. Just something Kev should think about cause he is more than capable there.

Thought it was weird there was no backup half in the 24 given gambles injury and Reynolds returning... but then I thought, who would we put in anyway?...

Either Walters or TMM move into the halves if needed I suppose. Maybe farnworth will get his shot at fullback if that's the case. You wouldn't give the shot to cobbo backing up from his 1st ever origin. All our injuries are in the spine.

Also weird Turpin isn't in the 24 despite him requesting a release as it would give us a bit of flexibility with Walters, and capewell not in the 24 - I get that he's playing origin but what if he gets a concussion in the 1st minute then doesn't return but fine for this game? (Just one example)

Kelly, niu, now Gamble, Turpin and isaako turfed, Reynolds a few injuries... our spine is looking VERY light
Maybe there’s a spine signing in the horizon 😉

Have to feel for Tyson Gamble but if we are talking in the footy sense, Reynolds/Mam is the more potent combination.

I feel like Gamble's best games are when he's been the guy calling the shots, haven't really seen him have a standout game whilst Reynolds has been in the side.

Surely if he snapped his tibia it would be all over at least foxsports, in only says he picked up some lower leg soreness.. which is significantly different than snapping your tibia or being a 4 month rehab. It wouldn't be soreness, he'd be on the ground wailing in agony.

Depends on where he did it and the severity of the fracture.

It wouldn't be difficult to keep it under wraps until scans confirm it. It wouldn't be the first time they have managed to keep a serious injury under wraps and then suddenly the bombshell is dropped in the media some time after.

Tyson isn't a big name player, everyone would have been more focused on Reyno.

Mate, I reckon if you went around with a pen and paper asking people what is the most painful injury they've had, breaking their leg would be in the top 2-3.

If Tyson Gamble broke his leg, any random bloke watching over the fence would've noticed. He may have a hairline fracture or something minor but if he's got a serious break in his leg, it wouldn't be post-training soreness. He would be needing a green whistle.

Some people go into shock and you wouldn't know they have broken their leg. I've seen blokes go into shock and laugh and they don't start screaming in agony until the reality of the situation has hit them. Not everyone reacts the same way. We don't know exactly where or how it happened. It could have happened away from the field when he wasn't in view of any media or any members of the public. With everyone focusing on Reyno, it's plausible they could have just missed it.

But on another note, I doubt the medical staff would be investigating it if it was just soreness. Just go home and put some ice on it and rest it. It's a very vague description which says to me there's more to it.

This is exactly what it says on the broncos website regarding the omission of Tyson Gamble

"Reynolds will be partnered in the halves by Ezra Mam who moves into the No.6 jersey with Tyson Gamble sidelined after developing some lower leg soreness after training yesterday which requires further investigation."
