A nice victory for Souths, nothing fancy but given the talent they were missing they handled it very comfortably and never looked like losing.

Tigers are capable of more but clearly couldn't match Souths upfront and were caught taking unnecessary risks that didn't pay off. Their ruck defence at times was very very poor as evidenced by the second Johnstone try.

Noticed the dual hooker experiment and nice to see it work but it's a clear cut example of a horses for courses type move. Good coaching by Maguire but it wasn't like he really put himself out there. The game was effectively over.

Yeah, media darlings.

One thing I'm noticing are the amount of second efforts and flops in tackles. Not just Souths, but all teams. I'm sick of tacklers "trying" to stand up and pushing the player down as leverage. That's not clearing a ruck IMO.
