PRE-GAME Round 14 - Storm vs Broncos

The concern for me is less about Bird himself and more about the coaching staff. I can forgive (temporarily) a young bloke on big money getting lazy because perhaps I would make the same mistake, but the staff should be forcing the lazy out of him

He is a grown man, he shouldnt need forcing.

Brilliantly put.

At the same time, what about the roles and responsibilities of the coaching, training and conditioning staff? It isn't just Bird, and if it is, the whole team is in trouble fitness wise.

I think players like the general population really va
ry from player to player. I got to assume the Broncs would only hire top flight staff? Hopefully the days of The Sloth Griffin eating regimen have left. Someone just needs to remind Milford, Thaiday and especially Bird!

I hope we see a big performance from Boyd.

I hope his omission from the QLD squad spurs him on like it did with Slater last year when he had an absolute blinder against the Dragons.

Still not enough to get a go in first grade though.

He will get his shot when Bennett feels he is ready. I'm sure he is aware that Carrigan is playing some good games in ISC.

If there is one thing Bennett does really well, it's introducing young forwards into first grade. He knows what he is doing.

Data confirmation: 228m 36 tackles, 80 minutes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ofahengaue (and Arrow) pulling that type of figures as well?

He probably doesn't want to expose him to the NRL and have another $500k per year forward to try and retain

Yeah, first stint at Ipswich Joe was not huge minutes or impact but still some good things, when he went to Souths he was older and was throwing around big impact. Arrow was enormous from the start at ISC.

Of course he shouldn't but if he does, then for the good of the club that's what the staff need to do

Standing back and saying "He is a grown man, he shouldnt need forcing" doesn't fix anything

You would have to think Slater won't be playing this week after being ruled out of Origin.

No way does Bellamy risk him.

How about Munster, Chambers, Addo-Carr & Kaufusi?

Rest em all I say

Even if Milford plays on Wednesday I'd assume he will be fine for the Storm, unless he is needed early.

I wouldn't put this past being another dirty Melbourne tactic. Send Slater into camp under the instruction of faking a hammy injury a day or 2 before the game when there is really nothing wrong. Milf goes plays Origin which disrupts Broncs preparation for the game while Billy is fine to take the field for the Storm. They bank the 2 points. Sneaky, cheating bastards will stoop to any level.
