Only an 8 point try if the foul play happens after scoring. If he's fouled before scoring (but still scored) it's simply a try. If he's fouled before scoring and it prevents a certain try, penalty try.

In the Raiders game, a couple of Raiders players were well offside in the second charge down. But Archer said it was play on because of what happened at the play the ball when Coote went to play the ball, stopped, and then played the ball.
