PRE-GAME Round 15 - Storm vs Broncos

I'd probably play Maranta over Vidot. It would be hard to drop Vidot after his best game in a long time, but Cooper Cronk's pinpoint kicking game scares me.

Melbourne had a good win against Penriff but they clearly aren't the team they used to be. I reckon we can beat them

Apparently Cooper Cronk picked up an injury tonight??

Torn meniscus.

Expected to be right for Origin II.

Cameron Munster is the most promising player to come through the ISC since Greg Inglis. Throughout the Storm Panthers game he showed us what an exceptional talent he is. At times he looked lost on the field due to not knowing the game of Smith and co, but when he fully understand their patterns he will be devistating. The Broncos let him go from under their noses. I would go as far to say the Broncos should throw 300-400 thousand at him a year on a long term deal. I am sure Boyd would fill the wing void.

Okay, this is a Sunday game so I thought I would post our record against Storm on Sunday games.

13 games for 7 wins.

However, in Melbourne, we have only beaten them twice on a Sunday afternoon.

7 games for 2 wins. And we have only won there 3 times all up..

Our last Sunday game against them was 2010. Also the last time we beat them.

We're due for a win.

We've got enough fullback as it is, we don't need another.

I think we will be very much up for the Storm game and the fact that Melbourne only managed 20 points against a rudderless Penrith and their previous weeks game in mind makes me think they are vulnerable .

Frankly I don't think you can say the 2010 win really counts. Points were off the table by that stage.

This is the first time I'm actually feeling like we can beat the Storm, and quite comprehensively too. Does anyone else feel this way too? I've never felt this way against Melbourne who are a bit of a bogey team, but something feels different this time around. I actually want the Storm to play full strength, with Slater, Cronk, Smith and Chambers all playing. That would be the ultimate test for us, and I think we have what it takes to get the job done, minus Hodges I'd imagine and possibly one of Thaiday or Parker.

I'd actually be happy to rest players on this one and potentially sacrifice a loss.
It would be worth it to keep our stars fresh come the backend of the season.

1. boyd
2. vidot
3. reed
4. kahu
5. maranta
6. milford
7. hunt
8. wallace
9. macca
10. blair
11. glenn
12. oates
13. parker

14. mcguire
15. gillett
16. offa/molo
17. parcell

I'd be happy for Thaiday to play in the front row for this one but it depends on how hard he works in origin.
I hope for oates to get big minutes and macca to spend a bit at lock to ensure parker gets a break.

If the wingers are going to be determined by the opposition we play, we have to go with Maranta. Storm don't have the firepower that they used to, so are most reliant on their usual pressure game. Being clinical and patient and waiting for errors. Vidot seems to have improved but Maranta would still be the safest choice IMO.

We never do that well against the Storm so this is a massive game imo.

I'll have Kahu thanks.

As for the Storm game, our side is vastly different to that of the last few years at least.

I reckon our halves are stronger, our defence much stronger.

All we need do is watch their usual suspects, play the attacking game we are evolving so well and most critically when playing the Storm, maintain absolute discipline with our structures.

I think this is a game we can win, but I don't think it will be a comprehensive win. I think it will be a very close game.

We've put in some good performance against the Storm over the past few years, but the class of Cronk, Smith and Slater were too much for us to handle and they were able to deliver in those crucial stages of the game. We weren't. But we are a different side this year. We are a better side this year.

Honestly, if we had this side in 2014, we win both of those games against Storm. I think we would have definitely beaten them in Melbourne. We had problem after problem in that game, but it took Storm so long to end the contest.

Whether both sides are full strength or resting SOO players. I'm confident of a win.

We should pick our side accordingly to what Bellamy does. This is an important game, if players don't need resting we shouldn't be.

Big game for Hunt and Milford to hit full throttle. They do that and we win.
