You’re entitled to your opinion, 100%, but I’m telling you it is to far fetched and utter crap. If you ask any one of us in here who thinks Walters is better than Turpin I reckon it would be about 98% who agree with that statement. So for Kev to jump on that 98% backed wagon means it probably isn’t nepotism. You have to realise that Jake Turpin had the starting role to begin with. If this was a plan to complete cut out the competition how can you explain the reason Paix has improved leaps and bounds through both Cup and Nrl levels during Kevs tenure. I am 100% sure Kev would rather his boy in the side than out, just like any father. But to claim that he would just neglect Turpin completely to help Billy get a spot is ludicrous cause at the end of the day Kev gives a **** more of a shit about his job than his sons. His son still has a job in reserve grade. If Kev starts picking inferior and incompetent players it’s his ass on the line.
Turps has gotten his best gos from Walters in the games reynolds hasn’t been playing in, which is often overlooked. I agree he’s no world beater and maybe it hasn’t been purposefully coached out of him but the fact remains he was a better player before Walters took over the coaching, take from that what you will. The whole way billy was even brought to the club had a bit of a smell to it. And likewise, you can’t tell me that any man wouldn’t prefer his own son to succeed rather than someone else’s. Even if I’m wrong about this and even if not done purposefully its impossible that Kev doesn’t show a little bias towards his son, even if done subconsciously.

Could only recall that during that year the calls were starting that he's a tackle bot that no longer runs it and also that his service was poor.

Hard to get a gauge on how any poor side was doing that year when a team is getting about 35% possession and 40% territory for an entire year due to ridiculous rule changes
There may have been some pushback, but they really didn't have a lot to go on. Brisbane pulled off a major upset to beat the Cowboys at the opening of Queensland Country Bank Stadium so fans were pretty chuffed with the entire performance.

In Round 2, Croft went down in the opening 15 minutes so Turpin slipped into the halves and Brisbane once again pulled off another major upset. From memory, Macca made a major error which resulted in a Souths try. Macca got hooked, Staggs went to five-eighth and Brisbane regained the lead.

Maybe he got some criticism during the Eels game but I feel that subsided when it came out he had a fractured leg. He played well against Cronulla, the fans were just in mourning because the Broncos blew an 26-18 lead with 10 to go and a drop-out in their favour. The next day, Fifita kicks us while we're all down by signing with the Titans and announces that he's finally back after being due back for weeks.

I don't think it really ramped up until that Titans game which was a horrific performance from the Broncos. Fans could cop the Eels game because Brisbane had 3 go down and some of the Eels tries were completely arsey but they couldn't complete a set against the Titans, the defence on the right edge was horrific and the team looked in all sorts.

However before then I feel fans were still happy to give Turpin the opportunity. The issue was that he never really got to showcase a ton at dummy half and of course some fans on here made it their gimmick to pretend he was the second coming.

It's fucking gameday.

I reckon he would be asking the opinion of his assistants on anything Billy Walters related, I hope so anyway

Perfect chance for Mam to pull Dearden's pants down

Turpin was never any good. It’s all well and good for people to just claim he was better, but what was he doing that made him better? Running more? He was slow! Passing better? Never! Slow and inaccurate. Tackling well? Well we already know that. Not being Andrew McCullough? Absolutely.

He hasn’t regressed. It’s just getting more difficult to compare him to Macca each week.

Scored a few tries through pure effort too. Disagree completely that he hasn’t regressed though.

I also view him as somewhat of an anomaly. Every other player that hasn’t been cut out as deadwood is playing better under Walters imo. I don’t want to be seen as someone who is having a go at walter’s coaching on a large scale, I love what how he has turned this team around.

Well getting back into the top 4 is off the table with the Sharks win so the players need to get that pressure out of their heads and just play to prove they are fair dinkem.

I’m worried about when turpin gets on

Not confident about this one.

Cowboys style of play really troubles us. We're still too passive defensively.

Turpin will lose it for us again when he enters in the 2nd half.

Checks which NSWRL merkin ref has this game... Adam fucking Gee

That's 3 fucking games in a row... why do we keep getting this fuckwit!!
That's unbelievable, honestly unbelievable.....

If we didn’t get belted by these guys earlier in the season I would be confident we can win but we comprehensively beaten that night and now we have them in their home ground

It’s hard to be confident
