Used to have kids at school do exactly that, paddle the ball forward and if you hit them they'd say they were hit while not in possession. The rule that says you can't propel the ball forward deliberately is also in play here, but of course they'd argue that it wasn't deliberate (though often they'd be making those "woop wooah ooooh" sounds while doing it).

They deserve to be smashed. So we did.

reminds me of the time i was playing footy at school and we heard this ... "don't push to hard" come from the opposition in the scrum...

so of course, after hearing that we pushed them about 20m down field ... it was worth conceding the penalty :D
