POST GAME Round 16 - Sharks vs Broncos

SOS our for a month, they’re saying hammy strain. Seems a little excessive doesn’t it?

Hodges missed like half of his potential career with hamstring shit
Yeah but not being a tear, I would’ve thought a week max sort of thing. I’m far from a doctor though. 👨‍⚕️

Why are hammies so bad for sportspeople? I tweaked a hammy once, it was fine within a week? Do they feel fine but still damaged or something?

We need him at hooker a lot more than we need him as a half imo. I think his kicking game has been fairly overrated also.
Overrated, were you watching?
> Two perfect hangers for Coates to latch onto
> A deft grubber in goal that Moylan and Morris botch for TPJ to score
> Booming 40-20 that he just missed due to being couple a metres over the 40 mark.
I hope Milford took notice, maybe he can do better at halfback next week.

Tbh that grubber was a fail. We got lucky Moylan is a cat(next Lockyer anyone?). Huge fan of the Turpinator, Cletus is a natural competitor and winner.

I’m not knocking him but I really don’t think his kicking is a major strength at this point. The grubber was lucky, Coates’ first try was more Coates’ ability, that kick would have been taken in goal by the opposition 9/10.

His second high bomb was fine but his first one really wasn't as good as being made out. It just ended up being fine because Coates managed to score, but if he didn't then it would have resulted in a 7 tackle set. You want to put up high bombs about a metre out from the try line so it can't be caught on the full in-goal and if it's knocked on, it's knocked on in the field of play.

His grubber was a complete shocker, it was made to look better by the Sharks. We got very lucky there.

Surely the bunker has its own feed, at whatever max quality the footage is being recorded at? It's not like they're just watching it on a spare TV.
Yep that’s the difference between bunker and a normal video ref, the bunker have access to every camera angle possible and I guess in pretty decent quality.

Then the same can be said for Dearden, what has he really done so far that screams long term halve other than being perceived a better defender.
Posters here would be salivating otherwise if it had been Dearden producing those 'lucky' kicks.

Yet look at the placement it was perfect had Coates not gotten the ball because it was before the line the sharks wouldn't of got a 7 tackle set either, it's as perfect placement as you can ask for an attacking kick, he did it twice in a row when given the opportunity.
Combine that with that Massive kick that would of easily been a 40-20 if the Broncos where further back shows there is ability, keep in mind this was his first proper game in the halves with prep in 1st grade.

The grubber wasn't a good kick sure but he was tackled while he kicked so hardly a fair judgement of ability there.

I just remember people saying turpin and sos were struggling in ISC and shouldn’t be picked for nrl. I’m glad they have the ability to step up when called upon.

Shhh, they weren't injury forced changes. It was the coaches masterstroke of plucking them diamonds from Q Cup mediocrity.

We played better as a team with Dearden in it, the best position for Turpin in this team is at hooker.

The one thing I did like was using the cross field kick inside the 20m... Hopefully it makes a resurgence in the Broncos team because it is a relatively simple get out kick for the halves.

We've had Oates sitting on the wing but never use him in aerial battles... our poor old wingers get peppered on the weekly from contested bombs but never get a chance to retaliate.

I think the cross field kick to about the second rower or halfback area with Oates coming in field could be a decent play for our team.

There's also the opportunity of the refs blowing us a penalty for escorts

He kicked it right before he was tackled. It was just a shit grubber, mainly because of the way he kicked it, and we just ended up getting lucky from it.

Looks like Flegler is a bit of a meathead..
