POST GAME Round 16 - Sharks vs Broncos

Turning point in the game was that knee. It fired our team up, and this season, that is when we play best (i.e cowboys, last years premiers etc).

After that knee, The forwards were pissed and ran hard, got quicker play the balls, we "attacked" when defending, running up and putting on shots.

We have a biiiiig team (a lot of them bein 190cm, 105kg+). When focussed and fired up, any other pack will struggle.
One thing I noticed after we got the penalty for Lodge being kneed in the head.

As Macca kicked for touch they panned to Lodge who appeared to yell "give me the f.cking ball"

He was ropeable and was looking to hurt with his hitups... I was waiting for the hitup but they didn't give him a run!!

Think he might be one day, Milf will be our FB when he comes back next week BUT, after to-nite, I have a feeling, anyone who is not fit and firing might have a job finding a position in our team anywhere going forward. Seibold did say those who do their job in their jersey will get to keep it.
IMO that is a thin veiled shot at all, including our origin players, to buck up or buck off.

Go the Seibs!
Exactly..
I'd dare say we might see Oates coming back in off the bench

I'm amazed that some fans would pick holes in that victory. Eight rookies including 3 debutantes and another playing his first game for the club along with two veterans whose careers are on life support against a side containing the likes of Johnson, Gallen, Prior, Dugan, Morris, Moylan etc. The Sharks should have won by 50.

Yes, there was some luck involved and yes, the Sharks were awful and yes, it was a low standard game. But in a season of woe in a club whose immediate future is bleak, today's effort was nothing short of miraculous. Downplaying the performance is a bit unfair. It may not impact the season much but it may have been a little peak into the future.
Our edge defence was downright shocking. You can't deny that

Long time lurker and I didn't see it covered.

Flanagan was given a grade one dangerous contact charge by the MRC.

With an early plea, he'll be cleared to play on Saturday night against the Melbourne Storm. I don't know how you guys feel however that's a bit of BS for an intentional knee if you ask me.

If lodge intentionally kneed Flanagan in the head there would be a crazy uproar and probably a much bigger consequence. Headlines would've read: Convicted NRL Player Still A Danger To People With His Violent On-Field Antics

I Agree that Turpin is the best 9 in our team but he worked well at 6 and has a Solid Kicking game, SoS would be a good option as a 6 once Dearden is back but he can't be the primary Kicker at the Moment it's a big weakness for him.

The fact we Still got Seggy means We have the Luxury of trying Turpin in the halves and we need a Solid player there it's been a weakness for us for awhile.

I would like to see how Turpin Develops in the halves for the next few weeks and see if it's a better fit for the team him being there, because he is a really involved player and has the ability to control the team around the park something we really never got with Milford(which is probably a primary reason why he makes more sense at FB).

Watching the first half again, I definitely think SOS is worth trying out for an extended period of time. I dunno if he'll ever be a gun or anything, but we also don't know that about all the other halves either. His running game was pretty good, and as he gets more experience it'll help his ball playing as well as the opposition will have to keep guessing. He actually supported a couple of times too, you rarely see that from Broncos players these days.

What I liked was seeing him in there after the Sharks scored a try barking out orders and keeping the boys focused on the task at hand, that takes a lot of confidence especially for someone his age to do so, I'm not saying his captain material here but I thought he definitely played a leadership role in the first half.

As far as his role at halfback I thought it was the best display he has shown this season playing in first grade and we definitely missed him in the second half, encouraging display and I'm with you want to see more of him, just hoping the injury isn't too serious.

Regarding the 3 Morris tries:

1st one was no one's fault that I can see. We were just outnumbered. Coates was marking the correct player (Xerri, who was next one down from Shiba's mark) and would have gotten him if Xerri didn't get a nice quick tap pass away.

2nd one wasn't Coates' fault either. They broke through the middle (through Segs and Carrigan missing the tackle) and just finished it off with support play.

3rd one was definitely a bit of a disappointing effort from Coates, he didn't really put a hand on anyone, but it started with Turpin coming in and creating space (but we might have been outnumbered once again).

Looking at a replay of the Coates no try.

The benefit of having Kayo is the quality of the video. 1080p, 50fps. It gives a clearer picture. Morris does not touch the ball.

There was not enough evidence to overturn the decision of try. The bunker fucked that one up.

We need him at hooker a lot more than we need him as a half imo. I think his kicking game has been fairly overrated also.

Who was in the bunker? I read somewhere(possibly here) that it was 2 ex-shark players.

Henry Perenara and Beau Scott. Both of them former Sharks players.

Surely the bunker has its own feed, at whatever max quality the footage is being recorded at? It's not like they're just watching it on a spare TV.

i wasn't judging him on his ISC form ... my opinion was based on his performances in the NRL thus far.

i don't watch enough ISC to form an opinion based on that

I just remember people saying turpin and sos were struggling in ISC and shouldn’t be picked for nrl. I’m glad they have the ability to step up when called upon.

How did we just beat the Sharks with basically a intrust super cup team? What a strange season.

Our Forward Pack is a lot better than any of the Intrust Super Cup teams. The Cattle did their best, and off the back of that and a dreadful kicking game by the Sharks, we got an opportunity. Simples [emoji1]
