POST GAME [Round 17, 2026] - Broncos vs Roosters

This isn’t a funny or even well thought response at all. You’re really bad at this. Probably stick to the racism and sexism, preferably on Twitter please.
As long as you stick to blaming the refs for our failures. Deal.

Season over. Honestly glad Payne is going. He’s not worth the $1.2m our forwards have been overrated for a long time. Need to get rid of Staggs too. Big money and fails to show any effort. Walsh probably a one season wonder. It’s disappointing to see how unfit, lazy and unmotivated they seem. Last year was a miracle. Clean out is needed.

Well he certainly wasn’t just innocently standing around a car park.

  • The Incident: On the night of January 16, 2021, Haas was in a park at Jack Evans Boat Harbour in Tweed Heads. Police were handling a separate, unrelated brawl nearby. When officers approached him, he became abusive and threatening. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Is this a coaching thing? Wouldn't we have noticed and addressed this by now? Or is it simply our players dont have the skills/brains to implement a plan... the effort is there.
The effort is there but not as much as the opposition team it's that simple. We have consistently lost metre game in every single game this year. I would be curious to see metres per game this year, I think we would be close to last in this stat and I think metres conceded would probably be close to first as well. For some reason this year we just have had zero possession pressure. The group looks off and slow. Might be injuries, might be fatigue, might be mental pressure, might be in club satisfaction. Not sure. Either way they are off the pace compared to other clubs in the NRL and miracle Walsh ball or halves play isn't going to do dig us out

Im not glad Payne is going. He is by far our standout player and the only one capable of getting Territory flat footed.

Can't believe we're into a rebuild so close after winning a premiership 😞

It’s not a coaching thing, it’s a broncos culture thing. We had similar issues with Wayne before he was sacked, the. Again with seibold, levied and now Madge. The players are soft mentally and don’t have effort, heart or the athleticism as some of the other players. They are living on being good juniors, and then all the hype from being a broncos player.

Take off the rose coloured glasses and look at our team. We had 2 players in origin 2 in Staggs and Hass. Staggs was worst in field and Haas still has never come close to dominating an origin game. We pay them about $2m a season combined.

Staggs was given a bath tonight by a halfback playing his like 7th game at centre… it’s pathetic. How we kept him over Herbie is beyond me. Our leadership team is Reynolds, Hunt, Haas, Staggs and Carrigan. Are you shitting me? None of them talk and hold each other accountable. It’s abysmal.

Thank god we won the comp last year because we aren’t winning one any time soon. Our juniors coming through are shit as well.

Can't be all on players and culture. If your making 2 grand finals in 3 years, you must have a decent squad...

Just done quick math on this and we are dead last metres per game at 1,257m. Penrith average 1600m with the majority at around 1500m.

Broncos are also 3rd worst for conceeding metres averaging at 1600m and panthers and storm leading least amount of metres per game at around 1300m per game.

No coincidence the best team in the comp are both gaining the most and conceeding the least. We are getting ****ed and off the pace in the fight, we fix this we start winning again

I think this year is a combination of a few things. Mostly just severely beat down by injuries with the depth really exposed but also post premiership hang-over, just down on confidence now. It really feels like a side that runs on confidence, its how they won last year.
The Broncos need to sign some new personnel, Haas is a huge loss but full strength they could still be up there next year. Just string some wins together at the start of the year and confidence will go up again.

It's important we finish the year off well so we have a bit of momentum going into next year's pre season. We can't let ourselves crumble and get flogged in every game here on.

So they approached him, asked to see his ID and then boom, threatened a female cop? My favourite quote was “you put my family in jail you *****”. Seems rational, probably wasn’t doing anything wrong at all.

The key one there is run meters.

Dummy half runs is basically a nothing stat nowadays.... cows leading at 179 is 12 DH runs a game they have 2848 total runs (190 per game), so they're leading the league in DH runs at 6.2% of their total runs... and when I last looked at leading DH runners it was all hookers with Harry well out in front.

All runs just is just the possession count, so those two stats are the same.

Kick return meters is probably slightly leaning towards a territory stat... a team with high kick return stats could mean the back 3 are getting it with a shit ton of room whereas a team with terrible kick returns is probably defending attacking kicks all game and has no territory... but Talty, Preston and Gos had kick return meters tonight so it's also factoring in kick offs.

So it seems a completely pointless stat.

I find it funny that NRL doesn't post territory stats... panthers would be ****ing dominating that stat since 2020, but it's never posted.

This also means that us compared to Penrith in 80 minutes is 600 total metres of grinding work.

Broncos in this exact stat last year were 1560m average per game with storm, Penrith and raiders at around 1600m. This is an extremely relevant stat.

Penrith gets praised for Cleary but the formula isnt him. It's kick pressure and line speed jamming the opposition. You don't need superstars but you do need very fit players that understand every metre and moment matters. The moment you are walking in defence/ attack is the moment you are losing
