POST GAME Round 17 - Broncos vs Panthers

On an unrelated note, we received a lot of 6-again calls on 1st or 2nd tackle within our 20 m zone coming out of trouble. How can the team request a penalty from the referee in place of such a useless call?
Ref be like:

Man, Jordan Riki looked so passionate tonight! Even with that crusher he was so disappointed in himself. I am so happy we have him. Lovely short ball from Dearden. I am so excited for the future. Good signs. I only hope we don't suffer from the same BS that the start of the season handed us.

Cleary’s a ****. As is Luai. Whole team fucking around with blocking and obstruction in the rucks all night.

People shouldn’t be cheering them to win the premiership
It comes down to a few things, they have been allowed to play into form, having a lot of home games is also very helpful. Their form then leads to benefit of doubt from Refs and a preferential call. This lets them push these things further and further. Contrast that to Brisbane's fall from grace. They will most likely win the minor, the GF is a different story. I think it will be Roosters for the 3-peat. But in the end, in my little conspiracy world, this has all been orchestrated.

Like many others have already, lots of dumb little errors - Haas with the attempted offload, not getting back to marker

But how much better do we play without having to deal with those bullshit 6 agains?

Get rid of them.

A few criticisms for our better players:

Haas needs to start hitting people in tackles. Dude’s a powderpuff
edit: just saw he played 80 again. Understandable he’s conserving himself. But why is this still happening ?

Carrigan needs to get ‘fitter’, as in he needs to be faster in tackles both ways. Get off players and improve acceleration and get up quicker.

Staggs is such a gun in attack but **** me dead mate learn how to defend.

The rest:

Boyd was good except for still being in the fucking line resulting in a saloon passage for anyone chasing a grubber

Kennar was fantastic, as was Herbie who unfortunately didn’t get to attack much but was defensively great. Oates with a good return too - he’s still got it out there

Tommy was good, as was SoS. They just need to finish sets a lot better and we need better 4th tackles.

Luke was very good tonight and there was a noticeable dip when Paix came on. Luke’s kicking was excellent

Riki with a great run, nice first try. Kennedy also good for his time on the field - no errors or penalties.

OMG that Broncos challenge call. Sooooo dumb. Man. How did the video ref not just say "I mean, successful"? The ref didn't even listen to what the Bunker said. Just wanted a yes/no answer. Very bad. But it is ok because Annesley will come out and say "we got that wrong" and everything will be totally fine, right?

That so called “crusher” was a joke. And whichever player milked that penalty is a complete asshole. I’m pretty sure it was Cleary.

Grabbed his neck, heard the whistle, jumped straight up.

Far out I give you something resembling credit and you jam that down my throat. Although I will admit I wanted to reply with just "fook haha". Bring on next week! This K-Style knows whats up...

I don’t want your credit, in fact I don’t want you here. You have paid 1.25M a year for a bloke that will have a handful of games where he scores a try that others can’t but a majority of games where he doesn’t make more than 20 tackles and 100 metres and some ineffective tackle busts. Stunning when you consider the impact on your salary cap and the wider game much like the Ben Hunt effect where every backrower playing a decent season will want a million.

I didn’t see the entire game but really liked SOS kicking game. As it stands so far he’s definitely our best option at 5/8.

You can thank the Storm for this little conundrum. Bellyache and co quickly realised that it was more advantageous to give a six again call early as opposed to a penalty as it allowed them to reset their defence without allowing the opposition the opportunity to get out of their own red zone. a number of teams have cottoned on to this and quickly adopted the same tactic.

The refs just seem to act like automatons. Surely they are capable of distinguishing this rort on the 1st and 2nd tackle and use their discretion to penalise it.

Unfortunately, our guys have been so flogged by this 6 again rule they are becoming gun-shy to wrestle or even linger in the tackle for anything more than a second. It has resulted in our defence structures looking like something out of a game of touch footy.

Finally, on the bunker stuff up. If the NswRL comment on this they'll say it was an unfortunate mix-up and right it off as "these things are a one-off". We were still so much in that game and that call crucially turned the momentum.

Remember the Canberra game when the bunker stuffed up our call? Just another "one-off". Funny how these "one-offs" seem to go against us repeatedly and make them NOT a one -off.

Does anyone have V'lander's email addy?

Mate, we agree on so much.

How obvious does it need to be for the refs to realise that teams are now taking the piss out of the 6 again rule? It serves the attacking team nothing at all to give them one extra tackle coming out of their own end. Grow a brain.
It’s a simple fix. Just make it a penalty inside your own 40m and six again from your own 40m onwards.

or even better, just sack the whole rule because it’s stupid.

What was the press conference like? I hope he didn’t give them a pass. I also hope he questioned the challenge.
