Round 19 - Broncos vs Titans - Post Match Discussion

Love a win.

Really sick of Steve Micheals scoring against us though.

Wallace was great. What a difference being injury free makes, he looks a different player.

On the edges Gillett (in defense) and Thaiday (in attack) were once more stand outs. They are real weapons in their roles on the fringes. I'll say it once more, I don't care what they do at other points in the game, but Sammy must attack down the right and Gillett must defend down there.df

Great effort considering the atrocious refereeing on display. Penalty-a-thon, and it was not in our favour.

Gillett was immense in defence. Just what we needed leading into the epic clash with the Storm next week. We'll have to convert our opportunities a bit better against them, but this was a wet weather game so overall plenty to be happy about.

Our F/A will do quite nicely out of that one.

I wouldn't say the refereeing wasn't in our favor. It was just generally atrocious. One of the worst games from the officials I've seen in a while.

Pretty pleased with that performance considering we're coming off origin and the bye. Not a great first half but I'm happy that they managed to turn it around in the second, especially keeping the Titans to 0.

Refs were bloody awful, in the Titans favour I think but not by too much. Just horrible all around and way too whistle happy. I've been on the fence re. 2 refs but they seemed to be confusing each other tonight.

Pretty ordinary first half, not helped by the worst referee pair out there. Titans got the rub of the green in the end, but got a few shockers blown against them too... :grr:

Second half full of class, with Locky's vision coming to the fore and my MOM, closely followed by Wallace and Hoffman. As I said in the POTS thread, It's just bliss when your best players are 1, 6 and 7. :respect:

Gillett is getting better by the week, Thaiday is a weapon who sometimes misfires and Glenn + Hannant are so good at the grinding stuff.

Like others have said, I'd like to see Thaiday back in the props, with Glenn left and Gillett right, with Dodds back to the bench.
McGuire needs to be careful, although in this case, half of his penalties were more of a happy ref trigger than anything else really.

The rest of the bench did okay, but Hunt needs to go to Qcup and Baptiste should be Macca's backup, who has stepped up and deserves a wrap after all the sh!t I dished on him.
With Te'o to come back pretty soon, my bench would be Baptiste, Te'o, McGuire and Anderson.

In the backs, Beale proved once again that he isn't a winger, nor will he ever be. He does a decent job at centre and more than decent at FB, but with Hoffman, Hodges and Reed well ahead of him where he's strong, I'd leave him out of the team and persevere with Gagai. JMO

Everyone else was strong, including Yow Yeh who made up for his dropped ball and defensive lapse with his two tries. Hodgo already looked much better than during Origin and Hoffman is just a gun!

Overal happy with the win, but I reckon the margin would've been bigger on a dry track...

What did Beale do to prove that?

I thought he was strong out of dummy half and aside from one poor miss tackle on a very suspect piece of play, he was very solid.

He didn't really do much wrong. It's more what he didn't do that annoys me. There is absolutely no threat coming from him in attack, he has no blistering speed (despite what some people say) and little foot work. His aerial ball skills aren't great either...

He has no spark, no x-factor; I sincerely prefer Gagai 10x over him on the wing.

He was never given the ball in open space yet was still making good metres out of dummy half. It's a performance to build on, not to discard.

No surprise to see Beale having his place in question. He is a solid performer who does very little wrong. He doesn't have an x factor so we can't possibly keep him in the side...

Good win despite some bizarre refereeing and crap conditions. How dangerous was Hoffman?!

Apart from Yow Yeh's bad read in defence I thought we defended solidly in the ruck even with macca off. On a dry track I think we would have put more on them.

And EPIC LOLZ to the douche that threw the ball at Parker

I was more than happy with Beale and thought he was very good, always looking to do some work for dummy half and get involved. They were all good runs too.

Beale has been very good for us this year and has earned his spot, Gagai needs to earn his spot ahead of Beale but right now I think Beale has done enough to keep it this year.

I'm a fan of Beale, the kid has talent.

Macca was great last night too, seems he has learnt to show a bit of speed out of dummy half instead of his slow motion stuff we've seen at times.

Solid win, we picked up the pace in the second half and the Titans fell away like they've been doing all year.

The decision to award the Coast's second try was absolutely nuts. It was a blatant knock-on, even on first viewing - the ball clearly hit his hands and went forward.

Also, Locky's involvement was pure class, came up with the right touches at the right times. And, why is everyone wrapping Wallace ridiculously? I didn't think he did anything out of the ordinary, yet alone anything to warrant MotM.

Lastly, McGuire needs to pick up his game and stop giving away penalties.

Titans played better than i thought. Our 1st half was awful. Must be the bye.

Beale played great given he had bugger all opportunities - always made ground and looked dangerous. YY's defence is a worry. Hodges looked uninterested.

Wish there was more depth in attack. Hoffman is fantastic. Next week will determine our true mettle.

Wallace did a huge amount of work in defence. Him and Reed locked up the left side pretty well (go the rangas!!) He did alright, he had a good first half and okay second and vice versa for Locky. I would have given MoM to the Hoff
