POST GAME [Round 2, 2022] Bulldogs vs Broncos

I do agree somewhat.. if your going on stats and the noticeable things his effort has been pretty piss poor. I haven't watched him close enough to see the things he does off the ball and the things that don't get picked up unless your out there next to him but we're not leaking points when he's out on the field which is a good thing and what he's there for is working.
I think Flegs will come into play next week at the expense of TC and that will give us the go forward off the bench.
I watched it again this morning and have now looked at his stats as well and they line up reasonably well except for the metres from hitups. He had 4 runs for 32m but that's extremely generous! He tackled well but also gave away a six again( late flop ) which ultimately led to a Dogs try, their second.

Just on dumb penalties this is two games now that Carrigan has given away unnecessary extra tackles although I thought he was hard done by.

Hopefully once Flegs is back James makes way, though I suspect Kevvie will keep picking him, he seems to love him.

Another couple of observations from last night's game. The captains challenge was only used to ensure we got another few minutes to get air into our lungs for the coming onslaught. I think patty's run to pressure the kicker was excellent to be honest, but what I have to ask was where was this sort of pressure on the kicker for the rest of the game.

Burton had so much time on every kick he was virtually using a slide rule to workout where his kick projection would land. That needs to be sorted tout suite too.

I was wondering that. Maybe they were hammered from so much defense.

I think in the return bout, it’ll be much different. They now know how big a weapon Burton’s boot is. His kicking reminded me of Lockyer at times.

Now we all know the Dally M means nothing but funny that there were two Dogs chosen and only one Bronco - Herbie. Same things happened in Sharks v Eels. I guess the Dally M should be renamed the Josh Jackson award for services possibly rendered though no one knows where, when or how.

I wonder if teams will just let the ball bounce from now on, he's that far back when he puts up those kicks that the rest of his team is offside

Good point. We did that on one occasion and got the penalty for them being offside.

Not one word of credit to the Broncos in the Dogs post-game, pretty poor form.
I'm loving it haha... now the cowboysare getting talked up and taumolo is acting like they're favourites hahaha no doubt it will be due to cowboys having an off night if we do win. How many in a row will it take? Only 1 shocking win for the bulldogs to have 10 buy of the year camdidates, ours players need to prove a bit more obviously. Maybe 10 wins will do it?

I hope Cows spend all week believing their Canberra win was one that was hard fought

Canberra were easily the worst performing team all weekend, they completed at 56%, made 15 errors, conceded 8 penalties.. even then the Cows didn't put them away until the last 20. Then you go back a week before that, they could barely score a try against the Bulldogs in their Round 1 game at home

If we turn up with the same effort as we have in the first 2 weeks, we'll win this. It's not really about the Cows at this point, it's about what sort of effort the guys put in, as I said, if it's high effort then we will win. We have them in the forwards, the backs and with Kelly/Reynolds we also have them in the halves.

It was hilarious. Even during the second half against the Doggies, the commentators were already talking as if the Dogs had won. They were going on about how last year is so far away, Barrett was on his last legs, and oh how things had changed after 2 games and 3 wins in a row (they won their last game in 2021). What a joke.

Now they have Eagles, Storm, Panthers, Rabbits before they face us again. It is not out of the realms of possibility that they could be be 1-5 when we next meet. Wouldn't that be funny.

I've closely watched James's contribution tonight and my conclusion? Kw has a crack pipe and he smashed( loaded it !) it before the presser!! James did absolutely **** all. I think he made 11 maybe 12 tackles and I guess ran for about 12-15 metres.

I just didn't see anything that deserved a mention. Okay, I have been drinking heavily and could easily be wrong and will apologise tomorrow in the cold hard light of day if I am but fucked if I could see what he brought to the table.

I know 'talk' apparently is highly valued here on the forum and maybe that's what I missed but I think I'd rather Flegler and some real go forward.
When I was an apprentice, my boss was Wallaby front rower Stan Pilecki. A fellow Apprentice was a current front rower at Wets with Pilecki, although only 20 years old. I asked him if Stan, in his late 30s, was still pulling his weight. he said I do twice the work , but get half as much done. In other words, Defensive positioning and talk is important to overall defense.

If you asked me before Round 1, I'd have them winning 0 of those games

Now I can see them probably beating Manly and Souths but that's on the theory that Barrett can get them to consistently play well, they had a lot of calls go their way last night

Exactly I noticed this too and I had to do a double take. They were saying how funny the NRL is when at the start of the season Barrett was under pressure and now he is on his way to being 2 from 2 when there was still 30 minutes left in the game.
