Prior to a ball even being kicked the Raiders were for some reason widely tipped to be in contention for the spoon. I imagine Ricky and the team have taken that personally.

Insipid performance tbh but it is only round 2 with a disrupted preparation. Not panic stations yet.

Yeah I had tigers vs parra on in the background... and there was the try late in the first half where Bula was able to cut through on a kick chase and then setup Douehi who kicked back infield.

I was thinking to myself... Reece used to be so electric on kick returns now he never seems to crack them... then I realised the kick chase from Parra was trash with one guy coming out of the line who was easily stepped and then Bula had a staggered chase to easily exploit.

You put the same chase in front of Reece and he'll do the same...hell you put that chase in front of Cobbo or Mariner they'll also do the same.

But compare that chase to what Reece usually gets and he's always confronted with a full connected defensive line.

Or even on bomb defusals... he's always got someone competing on the ball, compared to other games where teams just won't compete on any kicks the entire game.

It just makes things infinitely harder when playing broncos is everyone's GF.

Teams come up against storm and panthers and seemingly roll over like the result is already decided and it's just by how many.

That in itself can be a bit on the broncos attitude though

Teams know they can frontload and put the Broncos under pressure and they are a good chance of beating us... it's very rare for us to come out all guns blazing or even retaliate to a team looking to bash us.

Whereas teams know Penrith and storm will just come out and bash you up... they turn up with the same energy every week.. and that probably has teams defeated before a ball is even kicked.

We need to get to that same level if we're to be competing for premierships any time soon

Agree with this.

If our starting forwards aren't going to take it to other teams when their getting bashed, we at least need a bloke on the bench to come out and show who's boss. Flegler was this guy in 23 and I think Palasia played his part as well.
I like Jensen but he's just not the guy that brings that and Willison hadn't got that reputation yet.
Marty is probably the only guy who could bring something different.

I'm not sure how you'd go about Reece though, apart from the late hits it's the easiest way teams can rough him up a bit and bash him.
Maybe swapping him out with Selwyn some sets so he's harder to find or if the backrowers going after him, our back rowers need to be going after them.

I see Young and Smithies have been issued with a breach notice for bringing the game into disrepute over in Vegas.

Is there a reason why they've waited this long to issue that, given they weren't playing footy last weekend?

They could've been issued it as soon as they left Vegas.

If they get suspended for this upcoming weekend, but were allowed to play the Broncos in-between that's just more bullshit from this useless administration

Def not getting suspended, fines only and nothing yet from the Raiders who said they would be harshly dealt with internally.
Bringing the game into disrepute on an international stage is apparently not such a big deal.

I'm still baffled on the no call for the Raiders try when the hooker ran around his own player obstructing Shiba.
Not one person has questioned it.
Am I completely wrong on this or is that just a straight up penalty normally.

I think they would claim that Shiba was not affected despite it occurring.

Had he run into the player that Stirling ran around then we would've got the penalty... that's where footy smarts comes into it, and you know for sure that a storm player would've seen that and ran into the defender to get the penalty

Was that also the try where Starling kicked it into his own player who was infront of him and the video referee decided to file it in the 'too hard' box?

Yes that's the one. I watched it a dozen times . It's pulled up 100% of the time usually. You can't run behind your own player, period.
The blow up at my place was epic, we're still looking for the dog.

Well, no. How is it different from catching a pass on the inside then running behind your player on a block play. It's not. When the D is that close usually it's a penalty no questions asked or the player stops and gives up a voluntary tackle.

Totally agree. Cowboys went 0-3 in 2015, Cronulla went 0-3 in 2016. Winning is fun but I'd prefer to avoid panic stations.

Nothing worse than when your club goes on a rampage to start the year, and then starts to fade - that stress is brutal. Like us in 2016, Bunnies 2023, etc.

I didn't want to ruin all of our days with all of our trauma haha

It wasn't even the too hard box... that was a definition accidental offside and should've been our ball.

I could imagine if broncos had that go their way Vossy would still be talking about it... but nope we get crickets #PenaltyBroncos

It's the same as when a winger catches it on the touch line and runs back infield behind his own players.

If no one touches or collides with any of the players he runs behind then no one is obstructed.

There was one in round 1 on Tuaupiki's try in Vegas... he ran back infield, behind his own players and then runs it in for a try... in that instance one of the raiders does actually make contact with a warrior, so I was waiting for it to be overturned, but instead it stood.
