PRE-GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

Still think Carrigan is in with a chance. They left Shibasaki on the extended bench, who was #21. The media were saying that if Roberts is out, Shibasaki would be in, so that says to me that Roberts is not 100% certain. So now, if Roberts is ruled out, they'll say that Shiba will come in, but I reckon Carrigan will get his debut instead on the down low.

I think his experience more than his defence has probably got him the nod over Patty. I dont really believe Sua is any better a defender than Carrigan.

I had to laugh at this... u know Patty has never defended in the middle at NRL level yet right? Is not proven yet? I think Patty himself admires Jayden’s defence. I’m a fan of Patty’s but I know who I would choose right now. Plus Sua can be rotated to the edges or lock if need be. There’s a reason he’s not playing his preferred position this week.

Think we need to start applying NSFW tags when it comes to wolfie and carrigan

How dare you paint so crass a picture of Wolfie's devotion! A devotion that can best, I think, be captured through sweet melodic verse (Sombrero tip to The Three Amigos):

My little Pattycake has the sweetest smile
Dear little Pattycake, won't you stay awhile
Come with me, future captain of my heart
Were it my choice, on game day you'd be
first prop to start
oh...

Dear little Pattycake, with your eyes so brown
Oh little Pattycake, prince of Brisbane town
You and I will settle down in a cottage built for two
Oh, dear little Pattycake, I love you...

Broncos by 4, Glenn first try scorer, TPJ man of the match.

:)

I don’t want to state the obvious but I will. Stop Taumalolo and we probably go a very long way to winning this game. To be honest the cowboys outside backs don’t scare me anymore. It’s their forwards.

We need to be making Taumalolo make repeat efforts in defence every set. Run at him all game. He can’t make 300m again this weekend or we lose. Simple as that.

I think we are going to need to be more positive and try to keep the ball alive tonight, we need to run those big cowboy forwards around, I don't think we can expect to just bash it up through the middle against this cowgirls pack, they will just monster us and bend us back like the storm did last week.

Add Haas and Lodge in and I think we are the better team on paper. Their forward pack is probably still a bit better but our backs are far better then theirs.

Without lodge and Haas its going to be a really big ask. Time will tell if the younger guys like Fifita, Pangi, fledger and Su’a are up to the task tonight. If they are not on then we lose the same way as last week. No field position and just bringing it off our own line every set.

As much as I’d like a W in the results column and even though the bar was set low last week, tonight should be all about improving.

Need to remember:
- we’ve got key players who have had limited to no preseason
- still adapting to whole a new system, which was introduced late in the preseason

Curious to see tonight. Happy to optimistically run a line through the Storm match as Brisbane haven't beaten them in years and managed to keep within 10 points despite being pummeled in the forwards.

Much talent in the pack, but still developing that hard edge so many others have with experience.

Don't like Gillett at lock. Waste of his top fringe defence.

Also reckon if Seibold wants a more up-tempo style through the middle, better off with a second dummy half. Don't know where that leaves Staggs though ..

Noticed Hunt went into dummy half for the Dragons for a bit last night. Not sure KNik shouldn’t be doing that for us as well. Understand he made way for Widdop who made way for Dufty but did give them a refreshed direction for a tad.

Tbf, the Cowgirls have had a fairly disrupted pre season as well.

How about a whole team misdirection some time in the second half:

1. Milf
2. Isaako
3. Staggs
4. Fifita
5. Boyd
6. Bird
7. Roberts
8. Su'A
9. KNik
10. Macca
11. Oates
12. Gillett
13. Staggs

Staggs will gas for sure playing two positions.

Move him from centre to fullback and he can bookend the team.

I think the Sua switch is just a kind way of demoting him. He was terrible last week.

I would have liked to have seen mago get a run. He makes impact.

I doubt it, he wasn't great but he's been out awhile. Seibold is a big fan so I think he will get a fair crack this year. He definitely needs some match fitness but.
