POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

The forwards were all good and some were outstanding but the outside backs really helped them out when they were sucking them in and it was needed. Special mention for Boyd, he led from the front and put in his best game for a while.
 
On the way back from the game and too happy to post anything of reason. Woo fucking hoo and eat a dick Morgan you beaver looking fucker!

I really liked Flegler tonite and if haas lives up to his potential when he comes back those two will take us a long way this season.
 
Plenty of effort from our forwards who really dominated tonight. I also think the cows were pretty poor and seemed exhausted fairly early into game.
 
It's funny but I was thinking the 3 best for the cowboys were all playing for us last year kahu, Maguire and opacic. I thought opacic surprised a few people here and was glad he has found his place.
 
Why do our halves always look pressured and rushed.......they don't seem to get the space some other halves do.

Is it they're not standing deep enough?

or is it because our dummy half is as slow as **** and can't pass for shit?

What forward pack? ;-)

Like most things, Cowboys forward pack looks scary on paper. But when you break it down, outside of Taumalolo, they are extremely over hyped.

Matt Scott is an absolute shadow of his former self and is still being over hyped based on his reputation. McGuire was let go without a fight from us and with good reason. He is too one dimensional in the modern game and aggression is really the only thing he offers in spades. His defence around the ruck and his discipline has let him down in recent years not to mention his lack of second phase although tonight he showed a bit more of it for once. He’d struggle to even make the current Broncos starting side. Gavin Cooper is nothing more than a tackle merchant now that JT has retired and along with it Cooper’s attacking game.

McLean is a gun though and Asiata has stepped up but is more the unheralded forward amongst the big names. Hess is 50/50. Can be lethal if used right but is still pretty raw and his impact has been limited in recent times now that opposition teams have worked his game out.

The most impressive thing for me is he didn’t put a foot wrong and how comfortable he looked playing in his unnatural position on the left hand side of the field. He said it would take time but I think he is already nailing it.
 
I'm not sure why people were so worried about the Cowboys pack.

Shut down Taumalolo and they crumble. Scott is well past his best, McLean is a good prop but nothing special, Cooper is solid but again nothing special and not likely to really dominate the opposition without Thurston, McGuire is a solid workhorse but his metres per run in his time at the Broncos wasn't anything to boast about. Hess and Granville were the only real dangers but they are also prone to mistakes and hurting their side.

All we had to do tonight to get over the Cowboys pack was shut down Taumalolo and run and tackle with purpose and that's exactly what we did.

Our pack, while young, has more upside than the Cowboys.
 
I really wished Milford’s inside ball to Boyd was fair and also wished bird scored that try. Both plays could have broken the shackles for both players. Oh well on to next week

I still think Scott has some mileage in his legs, but they would have to use him as a bench player imo. A starting front row of JT2, Moose and Mclean would be strong, then Scott aand whoever else they have as bench players.
