PRE-GAME [Round 21, 2026] - Broncos vs Cowboys

This is what I am yet to understand about Walters playing 40 minutes last week followed by a bye.

I thought if he played 40 last week it was to be ready for Panthers, but then he doesn't play and Souths have the bye this week- so Walters gets another week off.

He's now gone 60 at half, 80 at half, 40 at hooker and week off. So, his prep for the Cowboys could be 40 minutes in two weeks after 10 months off.

Unless he's staying in Cup and they're not getting him ready for NRL then he will be in Innisfail for Country week when the Broncos play the Cowboys.

Souths have another bye last round and are in 11th- four Magpies games left in the year maybe.
I have a bad feeling that he is not in Madge's future plans :/

If you mean playing NRL in 2026 maybe, if you mean beyond 2026 zero chance of that. He's club less on October 31 and that would indicate he's staying on, or something would have been done by now.

No lol Reyno was THAT bad tonight that it has to be discussed. He and Walsh just don't gel well together on field. It's either all Walsh or both flounder together.
I think there will be some moments next week at the video sessions .
One when they watch the J Riki try . Where Reyno is blowing up about not getting the ball ..
Then the ones where Reyno payed him back by not giving Walsh the ball when he wanted it .
Didn't look good .
Then there is the Bhunt confusion about where the ball needs to go . And how to pass off the ground.
Next detail Walsh needs to position himself better when kicking. Last night he got charged down . The other week he kicked into his own player . He has got a great long kick ,but it will bite him on the arse sooner or later if he doesn't sort that out .
But the effort was on another level last night . Lots of work off the ball that makes a difference.

Put Duffy in for Reynolds and Walters in for hunt and we are set and for **** sakes the game plan is simple
Don’t get in Walsh’s road when he wants the ball

Omg HUNT is more shit than Reno. Please, he is not the answer at 7. Can the mention of moving him to 7 be forbidden in this thread. 🤮
We might have something if science can transfer Reynolds brain into Hunt's body. Until then bring in Duffy and Walters. Also I would like to see Rogers on the bench. He always has a dig and can play lock.

We all know Madge will roll out the exact same team again unfortunately. Even though blind freddy can see both Hunt and Reyno need to be taken out back. While still unlikely, it all but assures we have zero chance making the 8. They are both diabolical.

There is no excuse for Hunt to not be dropped, but it's hard/not a good look to drop your captain so I sort of understand in terms of Reyno. He'd need to stand down himself which he'll never do.

Even if Madge does have a blind faith in Benny Hunt, that video review session is not going to highlight anything he did well, and you would think it'll highlight quite a number of things he did poorly.

He was so poor. We can whine about Paix all we want, but his service was better last night, he made his tackles as he always does, and yes, I want him to run more, but he did at least try. Hunt comes on, (in the same poor conditions) and looked more a 1 gamer than a 300+. He looked completely lost, and out of sync with everyone on the field. His passing was extremely poor, his awareness was poor.

He should stay on the extended bench with 6 options being available, but I really wanna see someone else as the 14/interchange hooker next week.

What do we do with Paix moving forward? He can't be the 9 unless Mozer and Walters are both out, which given Mozer's injury history is possible.

Even so, I think there is a place for him in the team because his tackling is pretty great but I'm not sure where. Can you carry a tackle bot moving forward? If so, where?

I think he is our starting 9 for a while yet. We wouldn't have re-signed him if that wasn't the case. Injuries and a level of 'not ready' among the other hookers we have mean I think he is still the starting 9 for next year.

The others right now are fighting it out for the 14 jumper. Right call or wrong call, going to be many opinions on that.

Yup this is my fear. Excellent gritty win lastnight and they will rock up to NQld expecting to do it again and it doesn't come off. I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see I guess.
