Round 21 - Broncos vs Eels - Post Match Discussion

There is no leader or organizer.

Our attack has been at the worse end of inconsistent this year.

Norman and Wallace just can't get it together, individually or as a combination.

The one-out and flat play is just not working - especially when there is no support. Griffin ought to realize that by now.

Being slow out wide is fatal.

Zero defensive line speed is fatal.

Still, such a dreadful game, well, every team is allowed one or two a season. Hopefully that was our last.

maranta tried all night. i'd put 17 marantas out there.

Only watched the first 20 in the second half.

All I saw was Wallace and Norman having no idea and the defense consisting mostly of arm grabs and smaller blokes pushing of four big guys.

At least capewell knows where to run to support the ball runner (not that anyone passed it to him)

There has to be something going on behind the scenes as the attitude is all wrong.

this is the biggest problem i think. we are lost sheep out there.

once again there were times all the halves had to do was move the ball/go to a second man option but they'd stop/prop and get tackled. its infuriating.

As disappointing as that was I'm actually hopeful that we learned that we just might find space if we pass the ball there. Hunt did more second man plays in 15 mins than Wallace has done nearly all year, 2 in one movement.

It was refreshing to see him play what was in front of him. Also he bombed to his winger FFS!!!! He thought he'd test out the rumour that not only Yow Ye has arms and legs.

Hoff needs to be told if he can't get the second man play going he is not going to stay in first grade, it's kind of embarrassing when your replacement comes in and nails it first time.

We aren't signing players, so they are complacent in the knowledge that their place in the team is fairly safe.

... and Thaiday is no shepherd. Parker should be captain.

Totally agree with Dexter about Capewell-Hoffman comment.

Hunt and Capewell in the halves, that might be interesting

Q cup might have a few next weekend, bloody posers

How dangerous did the Eels look with all their players deep when they were attacking the try line? Hope Hook takes notice of that. Even if it's for next year.

At least it didn't turn out as bad as 56-0 in 2009 but I think that was the second worst performance by the Broncos that I've seen.

I don't think Parker has shown all that much when he has been captain in the past, but he can't do a worse job than Thaiday.

BTW Thaiday tonight was: 4 runs for 22m and 23 tackles. Garbage.

i will be most disappointed if we name the same (basically the same) team again next week. there are players out there who are simply not pulling their weight.

i think hunt was close to our best in the limited opportunities he had. its time he was offered a legitimate crack at 80 minutes.

dont think capewell has anything to be ashamed of either. id like to see him get another chance.

You sure it wasn't Ben creagh doing a black face?

At least Parker won't ask Macca, what he should do.

Abort abort.... wow.

Not much to say after that. Glad we gave the Eels fans something to hope for (and Sandow's best game of the year)

I was at the game tonight. Pretty much a waste of time going in. One thing that did please me was Hunt's stint at halfback. Set up a try. His chip and chase should have lead to another try. He also found Maranta with a cut-out bullet like pass. Those are the things we've been sorely missing. Time for Hunt to get a run in the halves.

How many players do you think are carrying injuries?

Gillett pretty much looked to the bench every tackle after the 50 minute mark. He was terrible. In defence, he pretty much resigned himself to the role of the player who Parra would draw, put the shot on the passer and feel like a job well done.

Reni Matua, embarrassed us. Justin Poore's try. Both of Sandow's tries. How embarrassing.

Was at the game and didn't see a replay, but how did Te'o NOT score? And how did Parra fullback not go into touch? Why was Capewell's strip on tryscorer not deemed a knock on (ala Tate in Origin 2?). If that player drops the ball on that exact play, without Capewell's intervention, it's a knock on 100% all day everyday.

I reckon that the clubs should be able to have an advocate to argue their case when decisions are referred to the video referee.
