PRE-GAME Round 21 - Roosters vs Broncos

It's going to be another tough game for Su'A.

Pearce loves to play short to Cordner who maybe the best fringe running forward in the business.

I'm sure he'll give his all like he has done this season, hopefully it works out for him.

This is what really PISSES me off. Gillett for mine, and Glenn too, are every bit as good running on the fringes. It's 99% practice, set plays, worked, rehearsed, practised, called, executed, used FFS .... just ask Proctor and Cronk.

GRRRRR.

I can't see why Hunt and Milford aren't working with Su'A either, let alone Gillett anf Glenn. What a fucking waste

Yeah I feel your pain. Wasn't Glenn our top try scorer one year? I think it was running off Corey Norman too. Milford either passes too early or takes on the line himself. Why can't he pass before the line to Glenn running at speed?

Correct.

For all his flaws in attitude both on and off field ( a lot having to do with being in Sydney imo), the guy could play footy. He got shit for not passing and yeah it got frustrating but no player at his age then is perfect. I still hate how his time ended here.

It'd be interesting to see the alternate dimension where Griffin didn't sign Prince and Norman stayed and we moved forward with a Hunt/Norman halves under Bennett. Not to say I don't want Milford, just wondering how they'd go being together for a few years already with the team we have now

I'd have Ben Hunt on the bench if we had Corey Norman and Anthony Milford just due to the fact Ben Hunt isn't confident at the moment, making mistakes and he isn't running the ball.

6 Anthony Milford
7 Corey Norman

As much as I dislike Hunt's current form and body language, it'll be a cold day in hell when I take Norman over him. Get the idea out of your head, quick smart.

As much as it's been beaten to death how bad our go-forward is right now, I just thought I'd illustrate it. These are the minutes & total metres run against the Panthers, in comparison to the Cowboys forwards performances last weekend.

Broncos~

McGuire - 64 minutes - 80 metres
Blair - 71 minutes - 69 metres
Wallace - 47 minutes - 50 metres
Thaiday - 67 minutes - 92 metres
Parker - 63 minutes - 90 metres

Cowboys~

Scott - 40 minutes - 124 metres
Tamou - 32 minutes - 134 metres
Lowe - 80 minutes - 126 metres
Taumalolo - 52 minutes - 196 metres
Asiata - 34 minutes - 135 metres
Bolton - 42 minutes - 137 metres
Hannant - 40 minutes - 135 metres

So, Roosters will be honouring Artie Beetson with a special jersey tonight.

These are the kind of games we tend to lose. Whether it's the club honouring someone that's passed away or leaving the club, or a club celebrating 20 years in the NRL (Cowboys), or a player reaching a milestone game.. We tend to lose those games.

Expect the Roosters to lift tonight.

Was that the other year of the backline curse? IIRC it was something like 13 tries, good for a forward but a pretty laughable top tryscorer' tally.

If we have attitude problems, seriously Norman is not the answer. He can play footy... when he wants to. Like, say, a contract year when I'm pitching for $800k a year.

It was in 2012.

Our top 3 try scorers were Glenn (13), Norman (10), Te'o (10).. My god, that was a horrible year.

After watching Super Freak's highlights packages, there's one thing in particular I've noticed has been missing the majority of this year- Milford and Hunt taking on the line as a pair.

All our best tries last year were Milf to Hunt or Hunt to Milf. The quick interchange of passing between them was nothing short of brilliant at stages last year (see McCullough's try in the prelim last year for the best example).

This year they only seem to link up when spreading the ball for the sweep play. I think it's indicative of a whole team problem with supporting the ball carrier. Milford and Hunt are 2 of the best ball runners in the comp, but without support they are easy pickings for the defense. 1 against 13 very rarely works out in the 1's favour. It's as much of a sign of an attitude problem as the poor defense we're seeing of late.

Everyone is calling for them to take the line on, and rightly so. Unless the team's attitude lifts we'll just see them taking the line on in vain. Running the ball only works if the defense thinks you MIGHT pass, and vice versa.

Not fair to blame Sydney; he's always had issues and that's why he's never been involved in any emerging camps or the Queensland set up. Mal or Kevvie know what's he's like.

It's a bit sad, last year this game would have been considered a blockbuster. I'm not even really looking forward to it considering what we have dished up lately.

^^ Interesting bit of info on Norman. If he were eligible for NSW, not only would he be playing origin, he would probably be in line to captain them.

SKD plays on the opposite side.

wasn't being literal. But rather, who will derp it up the most. I've noticed that SKD has lost a lot of derp out of his game this year, and Tupou is carrying that torch for the chooks this year....but as far as longevity Derpy outside backs, Maranta and SKD surely take the crown.

Remember the time SKD threw a pass in a prelim final straight to darius. Good times, good times.
(also, remember the time we made a prelim final)

This is the first game in a while I've actually felt confident. I reckon we'll win and win comfortably. That said, if we don't, this season is well and truly dead, buried and extinct.

Am super confident about this game. Have taken quiet a large portion out of our end of year holiday saving kitty to put on the boys to win by 13 plus. I really feel they will click tonite an silence all there/you critics !

Final score : Broncos 42 - Rooster 16

I'm not confident about it at all, in fact I'm nervous as hell. But I cannot wait for kickoff, super excited.

I rekin it will be a close game
