Un related post warning!

AFL have an epic open comp ATM, but v’landys has created a monster that can’t be reeled in.

If it was to be fairly ruled now it would be insanely obvious….so now panthers will win 5 in a row because they don’t adhere too the rules and the other most successful team also doesn’t adhere too the rules. Storm

Closest comp ever.

This isn’t supposed to be war when everyone is trying to get the upper hand with no one telling them they can’t.

There is literally someone there that’s supposed to tell them they can’t.

Worst the game has looked in 20 years and that was 4 years ago, still continues.
They Need to un**** it

They Need to un**** it
How’s that gonna happen? Its all feels very deliberate, it’s the 6 again, it’s un challenged, it’s a god rule, you can’t stop it. I said it the first week it was suggested…begging for corruption and here we’re.

My money is on the raiders this year.

That score line didn't represent the game at all. We were on top majority of the game and lost both halves, that are meant to direct the team. Walsh can only work his magic if he has his directors. Players need to take a few steps back so Walsh is bloody passing it backwards, we blame Walsh but hes hitting them on the chest. Ffs
Yeah exactly... Walsh is hitting guys on the chest and passes are ruled forward... maybe they should position themselves behind the ****ing passer.

Also noting that we could've been up by 14 points by the time Reynolds kicked the penalty goal.. the attention to detail and inability to execute the absolute bare minimum basics is ****ing insane with this team... and they've been that way since Lockyer retired at this point

Souths come in banged up, ref does everything he can to help them. We lost three players, ref goes screw it, cop this as well.
They won the penalty count but didn't Brisbane get a way with a bunch of forward passes, knock ons and obstructions?
I think i agree with Billy.

Technically the correct call ... although I'd be pissed if it got taken off us under the same circumstances
I actually like the system and agree with the decision. However I can see why it would annoy some and feel it goes against the fabric of the game.

I think we should give up chasing the fastest player in the nrl unless we have some speed like cobbo
Reynolds did it when he jumped over Staggs around the 40m.

At some point Reynolds was thinking Mariner will catch him or Cobbo will catch him and I need to be back in defence.

He can't just jog back 80m and be the last player back in the defensive line like it's some retired legends match.

The comment before that Reynolds can't even open up when running is more of a concern... I mean how many of us thought he was going to tear that hammy off the bone during the intercept vs Parra.

fair, was a dumb comment from me

It's games like this that proves how prehistoric and bullshit the rules are by having a 4 man bench.

Why can't you have a 21 man squad for gameday so a team can still be competitive if they cop a bunch of injuries... or allow you to change up the game plan if you are behind or chasing points.

Dinosaur rule. This sport is so far behind the elite worldwide leagues.
They definitely need to bump it up to at least 5 so teams that cop a HIA or injuries early on can bring a sub on.

Keep the number of interchanges the same, but we could've had Arthars or Smoothy on the bench to help when you lose two halves, but we almost lost Cobbo straight after it as well.

That was a great chase by Cobbo. Dude has really improved his fitness. Hopefully he's not out for too long.
He did a hammy as well.. and was holding near the top of his thigh, which I think is bad?

So he's probably out for at least 4 weeks, but if it is actually bad then probably more like 6-8.

Im normally a deadset harsh **** to cobbo. Thought he showed alot of grit tonight to stay on the field busted.

We still have a very decent football side for next week so I'd give us every chance at dusting the dolphins

Hear me out.

I think we're going to be better with Hunt 7 and Mam 6 .

Your 7 needs to be a running threat.

I don't believe he is 100% either but i'd rather see him go to ground than attempt a low percentage pass that just hands possession back to the opposition.
I think what Walsh needs to realise is that quick ptbs are also important.

If Reece runs on the back of a sweep play he is more often than not getting himself 1v1... he is agile enough and fast enough that he can find his front and get a quick ptb for the next man up... that quick ptb is insanely important in turning a shit set into a good set... or creating a try out of nothing. A quick ptb is literally the trigger to an entire team that a try is on.

Look at Coates first try tonight... it's also why it is so important to recognise when a quick ptb is on in defence and having to concede a tactical penalty.

The issue is that the team is so reliant on him throwing the last pass that it makes him think that he can't die with the ball, because he needs to be on his feet and handling it again on the next tackle.

So he looks for the pass and starts to position himself so that he can handle the ball in the next tackle.

Instead he could be thinking that every set I should try and generate at least 1 quick ptb for my team.

In tonight's game the only players that handled it more than him in the broncos were the two hookers (Bhunt and Billy), and looking across to the storm it was only Munster and Harry... he touched the ball more than Paps and we only had 45% possession and completed at 62%.

So outside of guys who literally touch the ball every ptb it was only Munster who touched the ball more than him.

When 1 player is the key to your entire attack, you become a 1 player team and the defence only has to watch that 1 guy and load up wherever he goes... that would've happened tonight and even more so when you lose two halves in one play.

I don’t know why in that scenario where the call is pretty much simultaneous, you can’t just give it back for a play the ball like with an offload after the held call. Though Storm would probably find a way to abuse it to slow things down
Because defenders would be stripping the ball after held all the time just to slow the ptb down... it has to remain a penalty otherwise it would be exploited to death

Those stats are great. Where do you get them from?

I'd agree if he scored that early try. It wasn't exactly an easy opportunity, but that's the type of try I'd expect a player of Staggs' calibre to score.
A guy that is getting paid the money he is needs to finish those tries.

The kick looked long, but it's like his first thought was just sprinting... and then he got to the ball without realising.

In the end he had plenty of space to get the ball and put it down and it ended up being uncontested.

I swear the broncos concede the most 7 tackle sets off tries that are 99% complete... so often they just fumble it and they decide to fumble it in the ingoal to concede a 7 tackle set.

The ability to execute is just abysmal with this team

Panthers for the 5peat..you heard it here first
Hope so... **** this stupid Sydney comp... if broncos don't win it then I hope panthers keep running a train over the rest of them.
