PRE-GAME Round 24 - Roosters vs Broncos

Need to win 56-0 to overtake them on f/a and then we can rest all our players and retire minor premier's :D

Won't need to beat them by that much.

27 points to equal their PD, 28 to overtake it.

I have a feeling the Roosters have had their eyes on this game for the past month. They'll be up for it.

Jack Reed will also need to stop bouncing around so much, or Ferguson will make him his bitch.

We showed how to beat them last time we played - on the front foot. Thaiday in particular was so good belting JWH.

Pressure Pearce, Maloney and Jennings and their games fall to bits quickly. I think their most dangerous player is Friend - no space for him please.

Blair on Friend
Everyone on Pearce and Maloney
Thaiday on JWH again to do the exact same thing.

My hope is that Bennett has given Hodges a little talk and that he lifts his game. He's been off since Origin. And there was some really loose footy versus the Bulldogs.

There's no bigger test than a match up versus Jennings this week.

If we let the Roosters into the game or camp inside our 20 (like we did against the Dragons last Friday) then we will lose. They will dominate us.

Pressuring the halves is not the way to win IMO. Like Souths, it's all in the forwards. The halves are pretty much just ball distributors and kickers. If they're pressured then the forwards will just go direct to the outside backs. The second rowers are the same. Stop the props, we win.

From what I've seen the past month..The Roosters defence isn't that great. I can see a high scoring game here. Hopefully our on line defence is good enough to keep them under whatever we score. I can see this being a 28-26 scoreline game. Most important game for us all year IMO. We need a home semi final!

I agree. I think they have the best forward pack in the comp... JWH.. Napa..Moa.. Guerra.. You could name them all plus their bench. All good players. Just hope we have what it takes to stop their go forward!

Their entire first choice run on side has played rep footy, or will in the future (friend). It's hard to spot any weaknesses outside of Pearce (all round) and maloney (defence), but it's easy for them to play average games and look amazing due to the rorters elastic cap.

The wingers will need to be strong too in taking high kicks on their line.

Obviously stopping JWH will be hard, but Blair & Thaiday should be up to the challenge.

My main worry is Hodges on Jennings/Ferguson. Morris made Hodges look like a bum two weeks ago and I could see it happening again if Hodgo isn't up to it. Roosters probably have the best centre pair in the comp so they're almost impossible to stop, but getting some pressure on the halves will go a long way.

Guerra to miss two games for a shoulder charge, Ferguson charged but misses nothing with early plea, Milford nothing

Nothing for whoever delivered the shoulder charge/facial elbow combo? I think it was Kane Evans but might have been Taukeiaho.

It was Taukeiaho.

I'm guessing they ruled that there was separation between the upper arm and torso.

And Issac Luke could be out the following week unless he beats the charge for that admittedly non-existent shoulder charge on Thurston. The judiciary doing us a favour for once.
