PRE-GAME Round 24 - Roosters vs Broncos

And Issac Luke could be out the following week unless he beats the charge for that admittedly non-existent shoulder charge on Thurston. The judiciary doing us a favour for once.

I wouldn't say that just yet..

Wait until Wednesday night.

This shoulder charge business is ridiculous :(

There should be a differentiation between a defender "bracing themselves" and an obvious dog shot from a defender.

The situation where a man with 30+ kilos on you charging your way and getting caught out (naturally protecting yourself as anyone would do as an automatic reaction), should be treated with common sense and not just a black and white definition of "shoulder charge" when compared to the sort of stuff karmichael or Inglis used to do on defenders. When there's an opportunity to make a regulated tackle, you should.

The issue is, how do you make it as black and white as possible to account for poor interpretation like the old obstruction rule had last year and the year before

the new rules are going to make smaller guys trying to defend against bigger guys more prone to head knocks, they don't want to miss the tackle so their only option is to go in low which as we see all time Leeds to players heads getting collected by hips and knees. Or they brace themselves for impact and then have a second attempt at the tackle which I'm pretty sure is what Milf did the other night.

If Guerra is successful, then the judiciary is a complete joke.

That was a shoulder charge.

He had the upper arm tucked in, he led in with the shoulder and made contact with the shoulder.

It's not like he was bracing for impact. He came across to put the hit on.. That's why Eels were able to score so easily. It left Pearce to defend against two players.

If anyone is worried about JWH this weekend, you should know that instead of running through the amazing Parramatta defensive line (like the media would have you believe), he actually just ran through De Gois and a bloke with a broken neck.

Regardless, he is still an important player in the Roosters success and will be out for a big one against us after being out pointed by Thaiday last game.

Stopping JWH's impact will go a long way to help us winning this game.

I will be really interested to see our defensive tactics this Sat night. Should be a cracker of a game, semi finals come early really.

Yeah they went a bit overboard. Sure it was a great front-rower's try, but they were basically just 3 or 4 speedhumps being hit one at a time. Obviously can only play what's in front of him, but it wasn't something that say Fifita doesn't do at least once a season. Sammy owned him earlier this year and hopefully will do again this week

Pretty much as expected. Is that knee still troubling Oates? I can't imagine for a second that he's out of favor.

I'd say so and nearing the finals the club is probably reluctant to rush him back.

Had a quick look on the Broncos injury list on their website, not listed so perhaps could be a late inclusion?

Either way I wouldn't read too much into it.

Well there you go, tbh I don't mind that really, Ofahengaue had a good game last week and would like to see more game time for him.
