Round 25 - Broncos vs Dragons - Pre Game Discussion

Wow, it looks like Maranta is going to play two weeks in a row at fullback. i wanted Maranta to get antoher shot at the start of the year but it you told me this was going to happen, I'd have told you to go easy on the beer.

Ummmm WTF? Maranta played wing. Hodgo was fullback. If you didn't watch the game maybe don't comment

Another thing I hope Bennett noticed is that we have not missed Hoffman at all.

Painful but true. Hoffy tries his guts out and runs hard, but it's night and day with someone who has vision and the ability to spread the ball at the back. Unless we have both halves tearing it up, and inserting him into the play judiciously, he's just not the best option.

Hodges said it best: he's a good player, but he's not the fullback we need (regardless of his tact in the delivery thereof).

If we play like the first half against the Knights, we'll lose.
If we play like the second half against the Knights, we'll win.

Simple as that.

They have the two of the best finishers in the game so our edge defence better be wise.

You really don't understand how Hook constructs his game plans do you.... The first half was the reason we were able to steam roll them in the second. We ground them down, then pored salt through their open wounds.

This is why he is sometimes a great coach, and a shit one. Relies too much on game plan and structure without letting players play their own game.

As soon as players approach him saying, look, me playing in "x" position just isn't working, please let me prove myself in "y" position.....those players step up and prove their first grade worth (hoffman - fullback, barba - 5/8th, hodges - fullback, thaiday - backrow, vidot - wing, hunt - halfback) etc

I refer to this because so many are calling for Vidot to be trained up in the back-row (which has happened before at previous clubs)

He's a winger! Deal with it guys! He wouldn't make anywhere near as many meters as he does playing in the backrow unless he came off the bench...but still, he'd be defending in the line all game, burning energy that is currently being utilized to chew through tired forwards on kick returns and scrum plays in attack. Doesn't need to defend and tackle much on the wing

I'm expecting Dragons to put a few short kicks towards Hodges in this game. Also some kicks into the corner.

He was great in attack, but he was a bit slow when going for the ball a few times. One time there, the Knights would have got the ball back if the bounce didn't favor Hodges.

I'm hoping Broncos have a bit of cover there just in case Dragons do try to take advantage of that.

With the dragons win this arv it might be a harder game than first thought. It'll be interesting how Dugan an Marshall pull up

If Parker and McGuire play like they have been, and we get good back up from Hannant and Kennedy once again, there's no reason why we can't just set up camp in their half for the entire match.

1. Hodges
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Copley
5. Maranta
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Parker
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Thaiday

14. Granville
15. Hannant
16. Kennedy
17. Oates

Don't think we really needed Wallace last game, and Granville's impact ~10 minutes off the bench is nice.

Fine. Sorry.

I agree with this bring our best available line up. If Dugans out and Beale is at full back again, we should be able to beat them out wide.

Game Plan - Run straight thru the middle of their forwards. Do that and our backs will find enough points

ROFPMFAO Marty!! You just made me spit green tea all over my keyboard ya little pi**er lol. AAnyway, back to the topic. What the heck is Hook gonna pull out of hes 'shock selection hat' this week I wonder?! Can't wait for team lineup tomorrow! Let's wait n c but I have a feeling hook is gonna shock us again ;)
