Cronulla aren't getting enough mileage out of Valentine Holmes. Last year he was one of the most dangerous players in the game on the wing, but the Sharks are having trouble giving him good football. Despite having a mountain of territory and possession the Sharks looked short of ideas relying on three pet plays.
Early ball to Leutele (easily countered by Ferguson jamming in)
Short ball to the backrowers (again covered quite well right up until Keary was binned)
Kick and hope.
It took a toll on the Sharks and caused too many of their players to try and improvise. Both Fifita & Segeyaro kept trying to over-play their hand, disrupting whatever momentum the Sharks had created.
Meanwhile the Roosters seemed to have a better handle on their opposition but were guilty of making some very cheap errors. The Roosters have the talent to take on any side on their day, but their discipline, particularly in pressure situations constantly lets them down.
