PRE-GAME Round 25 - Storm vs Broncos

I just don't trust Bellamy and the Storm to keep it a fair fight. Oates has now had two head knocks since that last game against them, and the slightest bump will likely see him sidelined for the game. I can see them targeting him. Illegally.

Tow the line when chasing down the kicker (especially Milford) and put lots of pressure on Corey Oates while in the air. These are just some of Storms tactics for Friday night.

You forgot

1. Slow the play the ball down right until the last millisecond with the use of dangerous wrestling moves that were invented by some Brazilian Ju Jitsu master
2. Plenty of forward passes from dummy half which would make John Elway proud
3. Stand offside out wide to rush playmakers at crucial times throughout the match, and

I've tipped against the Broncos for the first time in my life today... I have a slender lead in the local tipping comp and a couple of thousand reasons twisted my pride... But I've banged a 100 on the Broncs for the win also...

Get ready to be hypocrites with that whole Tallis banner in the planning boys, If we beat Melbourne tomorrow, everyone is a Titans fan next week. If they can jag an upset against the Cows, while we beat the Roosters, we're in.

Yep Hayne to say hello to JT all night and wins it for the Titans.

Why would that make anyone a hypocrite? The Banner is about Gordo being a fuckwit, incidentally one who shills for the Titans since they give him money and free cars, who bags the Broncos and our players because he hates the coach for something which happened more than 10 years ago.

If they're stupid enough, it might fire them up enough to win it as some sort of "**** you" to us.

TOM Opacic only has six first-grade games to his name but that won’t stop him in tonight's mammoth battle, as the Broncos centre claims he has “no fear” of the Storm’s lethal backline.

The promising young talent will be up against Queensland star Will Chambers and try-scoring sensation Suliasi Vunivalu when Brisbane meet Melbourne at AAMI Park.

It is one of the toughest backline combinations to defend in the NRL, with Vunivalu playing a massive part in Melbourne’s 48-6 victory over Brisbane last month.

He scored a hat-trick off the boot of Cooper Cronk as Broncos utility Kodi Nikorima was forced to mark up against the Fijian flyer.

It was a hard game for all Broncos fans to watch, including a then injured Opacic who admits it is “not the best memory”.

But he also says it was not a game that has instilled any fear in him.

He says no matter who he marks up against, he always has the right amount of confidence.

“You can’t be going in there fearing any opposition,” he said.

“That’s how I feel against any team. It’s a confidence thing. You have to be confident, go out there and try to get over the top of them.

“I’d say what worked for them last time, they will try it again. But I’m sure we will be up to the task.

“You have a natural winger (Corey Oates) out there this time. That is always going to help.”

And Opacic is not the only Bronco who is sure he can handle the task of Melbourne’s explosive right side.

Brisbane fullback Darius Boyd has endorsed his young teammate ahead of tonight’s clash, saying Opacic has shown plenty of toughness so far.

“Since he’s been in first grade and even at training I’ve liked how he does defence,” Boyd said.

“He has a good knack of when to come in and when to stay out. There have been some classic one-on-one tackles when he had to make them.

“He’s a kid but he’s learning. He’s good for the club.”

Wayne Bennett says the Broncos must take risks to beat the Melbourne Storm

WAYNE Bennett says the Broncos must not act “brain dead” against Melbourne if they are to have any chance of beating their bogy side.

The seven-time premiership winning coach is adamant the Broncos must throw caution to the winds against the competition leaders at AAMI Park tonight if they are to keep their top-four hopes alive.

“You can’t play the Storm without taking some form of risk,” Bennett said. “They’ve got to be managed risks. If there’s an offload here and there that’s going to be good.

“If you’re going to run one-out all night you’re going to meet more than you match.

“We’ve just got to play a bit smart and not go down there brain dead.”

The Broncos have found form in the past three weeks, accounting for St George Illawarra and Parramatta before producing their best performance in three months against Canterbury.

Facing the Storm in Melbourne is the ultimate test a fortnight out from the finals and Bennett said the Broncos had to back their natural game to get over the line.

“We need to be patient. Impatience kills you and plays into their hands,” he said.

“If we can be patient down there and expect everything to be hard. If you’ve got that type of mindset it helps you be patient.

“It is about backing what you do really well then they’ve got to exploit you rather than worrying too much about (Smith). Everyone knows what he brings.

“If we’re on our game and doing what we do instinctively well that will be the best thing we can do.”

Broncos 150-game forward Matt Gillett said the Storm’s ability to stick to their game plan had made the competition’s benchmark.

“We’ll see where we’re at when we go down there and play Melbourne,’’ Gillett said. “We’ve had a couple of good games out of that rough patch and we have to keep going on with that form.

“You have to give it to Melbourne. They’re so smart and stick to what they practice.

“That’s what makes them a great side. They play for the 80 minutes and keep at you.’’

You can't out-Storm the Storm.

The Raiders did a really good job a few weeks ago making them make decisions. You have to take them out of their comfort zone in defence. Create some confusion and some question marks.

They've only allowed 42 line breaks this year the best in the competition. (Broncos 76). The other side is they have made the most with 104. You need to play footy at them. Keep the ball in hand and create unstructured structured play.

Broncos have only had 131 dominate tackles this year but allowed 198. If you let the Strom control that you're in all sorts of trouble. Backs coming into the middle will work tonight in attack.

Definitely Boyd will need a good game tonight and our pack needs to pester cam and cronk to the core

The ruck has seemed a bit better the last few weeks. Ever since the Panthers publicly declared their game plan was "lie on them as long as possible", the refs have seemed to police it better. Might be a coincidence but still. That sort of shit is not in the NRL's best interest, it creates boring footy and they saw how good the footy was with a Broncos Cows GF (despite Cows lying in the ruck).

Well maybe he shouldn't play if he's so fragile, or still suffering effects of concussion. Seriously guys, lets get our tinfoil hats off, drop the conspiracy theories, take the good with the bad, and just play some tough entertaining footy... if we aren't good enough this time fix it up for next.... but please can we stop blaming the world its getting embarrassing.

Damn, and here am I thinking it was just the ju-jitse moves that have them on top of the ladder, not that they concede the least line breaks and make the most line breaks.... Fire up boys, play decent footy and you win games.... blame the world like whiney bitches and get rolled. not that the players whine, but just a lot of our broncos supporters are really starting to overplay the blame game.

It;s time to go a bit Sun Tzu. Turn the storm strengths into weaknesses. Attack their wingers, they've had it all their own way in attack, Let's see how the pressure of being the next Izzy sits with Vunivalu. Run blocking plays in defence on kicks to the corners. Kick to the corners in attack with relentless kick chase pressure. Put Cooper Cronk on his ass as often as possible.
