Here's a question, in a game like this, do we pick on experience or do we reward form?

In other words Petero Civoniceiva or Josh McGuire?

I just thought Petero was going through the motions last night, he didn't really stand out TOO much but he didn't play too badly either.

McGuire stood out again. Griffin has been talking about competition for spots, I wonder if he'll stick to his word?

You pick McGuire but if Griffin prefers him coming off the bench then Petro starts.

If the best McGuire can get from the bench is 27 minutes, then he has to start. Those kind of minutes are nothing short of criminal.

That was in the relation to the formation of our starting pack. From all reports McGuire had a pretty slow start in the trials while Thaiday and Te'o were stand outs. McGuire has since played two good games off the bench.

But really, I love this choice. It's much better than picking between Anderson or Kenny.

McGuire should get more minutes, but I'd start him of the bench.
Gillett and Hunt should get more minutes as well.

Civo and Hannant starters, McGuire of the bench for impact alongside Te'o and Gillett.
Macca to start and put Hunt in after the opening 20 minutes frenzy is gone...

My team for Friday:

1- Hoffman
2- Gagai (or Copley)
3- Reed
4- Hodgo
5- Yow Yeh
6- Norman
7- Wallace
8- Hannant
9- Macca
10-Civoneciva
11-Glenn
12-Thaiday
13-Parker

14-Hunt
15-Te'o
16-Gillett
17-McGuire

I think McGuire needs to play more minutes. I also don't want Petro on the field in the last 20 minutes. He will be targeted.

Personally I'd go with McGuire. Petero I think needs another couple of games to work up the match fitness. Seemed a tad off the pace last night (still good though).

He got over 40 last week.

I'm telling ya, Hook has got things mixed up. Petero got 39 last night, McGuire got 27 and Hannant only got 40.

IMO, ALL 4 should get between 40-45 per game. That would mean that they would ALL be on the field at the same time at SOME point. Could you imagine how good that would be to have them all on the field for like a 10-12 minute period? We have SO much flexibility in our forward pack that it's unreal. McGuire could come on to replace Thaiday or Glenn, but obviously hit it up the middle. Honestly, it's absolutely crazy that we have 3 world glass props that will get less than 40 each game. ALL should get 40 minutes a game.
:jawdrop:Should we put "Fragile" stickers on them?

Agreed completely. I also think Gillett is criminally underused. Nobody in our team can make the reads in defense that Gillett does. Which is nothing against our defense, it's just that Gillett is THAT good. He is also a great edge runner and already has 17 tries in the past 2 seasons. Hannatt, McGuire, Civoniceva and Gillett are all difference makers. To have them all play less than a half whilst Alex Glenn and Corey Parker both play 80mins is just wrong IMO. Whilst they are both very hard workers, when you can rotate 3 world class props, you don't need those players as much. Hell, even Ben Teo got more minutes than the 4 I mentioned!

LOLZ!

Anyway is it just me or do we look better when Hunt is on the field? Certainly in attack. Everything he does at the moment is crisp, it's giving us momentum. Macca was great at the back end of last year but he's started slow this year.

Agree that McGuire needs to play as many minutes as possible. He's class.

Yeah, I didn't like how Hook used our bench last night. Look at how many minutes Matt Scott in particular received over our guys. How McGuire only received 27mins has to be an oversight.

The problem we have at the moment is Glenn, Parker and Thaiday are all 80 min players. Parker and Thaiday play 80 for mine but I think we are going to need to reduce minutes played by Glenn to give more minutes to Gillett. Hannant, McGuire and Petro should be able to do the 80 mins between them.

It's a tough situation hey. I think we do need to reduce the minutes of Thaiday and Glenn, give more minutes to Gillett. And I really think we need to bring Anderson onto the bench in place of Te'o (as good as he was last night). Between Hannant, McGuire, Petero and Anderson they should manage 160 minutes up front, 40 mins each on average.

That leaves 240 minutes to share between Thaiday, Glenn, Parker and Gillett, gives each a good 60 minutes on average.

Yeah I don't think Glenn should play 80, even though his defensive work is amazing and he's obviously Norman's protector he just doesn't offer as much in attack as a Gillett, Te'o or even McGuire when Sammy is pushed up into the front row for a spell. Give him 60.

Another question - on the same vein of form do we push Ben Hunt up or do we give Macca some more time? I think it's a lot easier to be a bench hooker than a starting one but I think it's got to be put up or shut up time coming up.

I think Thaiday needs to play as many minutes as possible. Parker will stay the 80 min man. Maybe we use Gillett more as impact player and reduce his minutes but that is a waste. Our backrow is almost too good at the moment. It is a waste having any of them on the bench. Te'o is a big talent but almost needs to find a new club to fulfill his potential. If we go in with 4 props it will be good once Hala is fit but Anderson will do for the mean time.

I definitely think we look a better side with Hunt on the field.

I dunno what the answer is with Macca and Hunt. Both are good. Neither is good enough to play 80 minutes consistently. So you have to have both.
